"I was also under the impression that shipyard bonuses are not retroactive when it comes to adding a facility to a world, while technology and resource bonuses appear to be." I was told that all of them are retroactive, but I haven't confirmed it. Odd that this would be the case. :)

Disclaimer: The following is not likely to happen, but . . . It would be a nifty option to set how much information you are given. I personally would like to have almost everything at my fingertips, but some people would get a kick out of having finances updated say, every ten turns. Between then there would be projected updates, and those wouldn't always be accurate. The same could be used for research times, ship build times, etc. Like I said, only some people would like this, but it

Isn't the mystery in the gameplay and not in the pure statistics? I don't see why any information about the internal structure of the system shouldn't be available to a resourceful player. Sure, real governments don't have this type of power, but adding a lot of Earth "realism" to this game could make things a bit cumbersome. If you lose an election, you don't get to control your empire until the next election (if you win that one). Or, you have to deal with frequent internal problems with most

One thing I like to do is arm 2nd galaxy nations with decent defensive technology (+soldiering stuff is the best), especially if they are at war with my primary rival. This way, they put up at least a more expensive fight, drag things out, and I am given a chance to grow strong while avoiding direct conflict (unless it's time for me to let loose the dogs of war and all that rot). You really can wield some evil diplomacy in this game. If they put trade embargo stuff back into play, things will ju

I completely agree with Fleabit--I have even seen the Torians out there kicking everyone down the field during some games. This is especially ugly if the Torians and Altarians start somewhat close to each so that both ally and still have room to expand. That makes them ugly enemies (being that the Yor and Dregnin aren't quite as keen on buddying up). It's nifty that you never know who the super-ugly guy is going to be. Sure, the Dregnin often have a great start, but they get taken down

I am really glad that we have the metaverse around. Mostly, I use it to gauge how well I'm doing compared to my earlier games. Sadly, I haven't been able to submit for a few tries, including my 6500+ game after getting used to 1.03, but still. It's nice to feel like I'm learning new tricks--then to have the numbers up there for me to see my own playing trends. It's hard to fight the temptation of climbing the ladder. Most of us are pretty competative (gamers, that is). At least I can pr

I have enough good ideas to mention that it's tempting to feed your trolling, but the style of your post just isn't friendly enough. If you want some serious answers about things, just try to bring a bit of fun and a good attitude to the board. Believe me, I've seen far more negative stuff, but I wouldn't respond to those at all. Take care :)

Thanks for the feedback guys--I think that I have been completely messing up economic stuff in my games. I thought that the economics attribute was meant to directly increase tax income (revenue). Today, I started doing some testing--it's nice to have a very light work week, hehe. Anyway, I started several games and made sure to get the same quality level for my worlds. I used two versions of the same civ. One had +0 to econ, the other had +50 (30 from basic civ, 20 from the federalists

I was looking very closely at my economy during recent changes--I jumped from the second government type all the way to a Star Federation. Oddly, I saw very close to zero net increase in my income. Shouldn't that have given me a +40% increase to my economy stat (thus a moderate boost to my total percentage)? Could anyone give me a push in the correct direction on this issue? :)

Hey guys, I wanted to add my early input from doing several quick games. -I have the slider error too (that Baerd speaks of). There is no way to get the slider to do anything beyond moving the political party section of the screen, which is pretty much worthless. -Every game I start exits to desktop with an error (GDI failure, I believe). Then, I can click on the task and get back in without a problem. It's a pain, and I hope it can be fixed soon, but I can still play!
