When mousing over, say, Medium Hulls in the tech tree, I don't see any evidence of the several pre-made ship designs that become available after research of this technology is complete. How am I supposed to figure out what is needed to unlock, say, a Ranger? Or a Phoenix? I can appreciate that designing the ships myself is much more flexible than using the pre-made designs, but for the first few games, I at least want to look at those designs...

Zoom, zoom, zoom! It's cool too when you get planets pumping them out every turn.
Even if there are ships defending the planet, it's blown up using the Terror Star. All ships are destroyed too. I definitely agree that you need to escort the Star; nothing worse than wasting five constructors and 5000bc on something that gets blown up. And I think the Terror Star never moves faster than 1 square per turn- not 1 sector, so it's REALLY slow.
Well, what _I_'ve noticed is that the little colored dots for the _Altarian_, not the Arcean, and Torian ships look very much like. You know, the dots that appear on the mini-map when you click on "show ships". On the big map, all the races are sufficiently different. I certainly second the motion to allow color customizability. I'm certain that this wouldn't be considered a priority fix, so it could happen at some point in the not-too-distant future.
They were used against me, in a stack of computer ships. The Fates were with me, as the enemy died and I survived.
On the right side of the minor races diplomacy screen, there should be small shields or insignia of the individual minor races that you've spotted or otherwise been in contact with. You can also click on the insignias to move from race to race.
And in any event, a 100% tax rate would work for exactly one tax year (or "turn"), after which those who couldn't flee the planet would be driven into poverty. (:(
It does seem strange, though, that by changing the tax rate _1%_, one can lose hundreds of bc per month. Shouldn't the tax revenue gradually decrease above the "break point(s)" rather than precipitously drop off?
Hello to Brad and all the other designers. Just wanted to say how amazed I am at the speed and thoroughness with which you folks both respond to player inquiries and update the game. There have been, what, _four_ updates made available over the past ten days or so? Considering as how game design isn't even your primary day job, the effort you folks put into supporting Galactic Civilization is nothing short of remarkable. I hope you'll keep visiting the forum and making comments as your time allo
You might try visiting bestbuy.com or ebgames.com and ordering a copy online. Then take the savings you get from not paying sales tax and put it into overnight shipping!
Is increasing the tax rate supposed to lessen the amount of income gained? Sometimes the decrease is quite precipitous, like when I increased the tax rate from 48% to 49% and the income gained went from 27bc to 5bc.
