Mythor- how do you shut down other processes from running?
If you know what you're doing, you use Ctrl-Alt-Del to open the Task Manager and go from there. If you have to ask how to do it you probably shouldn't do it. ;) Cooley35 is exaggerating by saying your PC "will die" but if you manage to kill something important you'll probably have to reboot. If you don't know what you're doing the better way is to close things like Co

Making sure those processes aren't running. If they don't need to be running, why would you have them running at all? Particularly when you're trying to squeeze a few extra FPS out of a game. I'm sure your "tip" might be useful if you've already s

Yes, even after playing through my third game of it I was still finding myself trying to edge scroll. I'm not sure if there's a good reason why it's not in but I can't think of any off the top of my head. Unless that's part of making it "not fun". ;)
but no resources, and no unit building or micro, this game is destined to be abandoned by pro gamers.
Gold is a resource. So is XP. So are the skill points. You don't build units with an Assassin Demigod and that's all you can play in this beta. If you're not micromanaging your one unit then what are you doing, letting it autoattack? That's fine for the grunts but you'll get squashed by other Demigods. :P It's still micro if it's just one unit you're boss

The first phase is scheduled to start 5th of September. That doesn't mean it will... ;) I don't think they've said that anyone preordering after that will have to wait a phase though. Do you have a source for that, innociv?

Picking duplicate demigods should absolutely be an option. By all means have a switch that will disable it for your fancy "competitive" gamers, but if my friend and I want to slug it out with two Rooks, why shouldn't we be allowed to? Don't be silly, duplicates have to be an option. Not having it would be irritating and would make enabling it one of the first mods released for the game. :P
If Demigod is made to be a strong competitive game, it will gain the following it needs to be popular.
Sorry but that is absolute rubbish. There are plenty of examples of games that were designed to be "a strong competitive game" that have failed miserably. Fury, just for one off the top of my head. First and foremost a game must be fun. There ain't no money in selling a dozen copies of the game to the obsessives and everyone else running a mile to get away from it. If the
I wouldn't nessisarily say in a 1vs1 fight the General should beat an Assassin. Why do so many people say that? I don't get where this logic comes from.. :/
Well, for starters, that isn't what I said. I said Assassin should beat a General. ;) And the reason is that the General is based around having an Army as part of his offense/defense. Yes, the General as an individual may be somewhat strong... but it's balanced around being a General and having other units as support.<b

You think the Generals army is just going to stand around while the Assassin destroys the General? In a one on one fight the Assassin should beat the General but if the General is so far away from his Army that his Army can't protect him, doesn't he deserve to lose?

It's a misconception that there is no skill involved in target-lock and fire off abilities style games. You still have to know what ability is useful at what time, you need to know what abilities you should or can counter, which you should ignore, which you can break line of sight or range on... It's an elitist mindset that brings this about, where they're decrying a game's lack of required skill, usually while simultaneously abusing people who... aren't as skilled as them. Even though

Thankyou thankyou thankyou for the lovely AI option. So tired of betas leaving that out. "Learning" against experienced opponents sucks out what little fun might exist in the testing process. :) September 5th sounds good. I'll play it in between playing Spore! :D

6. Can't Touch This (pre-req for Hammertime): The Rook shuffles rapidly from side to side, mesmerizing nearby foes and increasing dodge rating 10,000% for the duration. Can't Touch This is a high energy maneuver but the drain is somewhat mitigated by equipping baggy pants.

Stardock had a hand in the creation but it's not like GalCiv where they were the primary developers. If you have that much money spare, good for you for supporting Stardock... but really, you didn't even check to see if it's a game you're even interested in? That seems a lit

You can also just save up the "free month" Live sub cards you'll get in some games and use them if you want to play online. But Live is reasonably priced and works well, I'd say it's worth the money. And really if you want a media player, by all means get a PS3. If you want something that can play a ton of great games, get a 360. And with the Netflix deal then it's a much closer race, at least for Americans. Regarding the PS3 controller being charged via a cable - the 360 has a

Fallout 2 was quite a while ago now and community standards change over time. Also an issue is that the depiction of the drug/"chem" usage in Fallout 3 is much more realistic by virtue of the vastly enhanced graphics. The problem with the Australian game ratings system is that it isn't consistent with the film and other media system, even though it's all under the auspices of the OFLC. Film and other media can be rated up to R18+ in most states, though an X18+ rating does exist

Haven't heard anything from Tiberium in ages (#5) so I doubt that's accurate. Couple of others seem unlikely, too. And it's "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King". ;) I've been playing a lot of Battlefield: Bad Company for the XBOX 360. Considering starting a big game of GalCiv 2 or Civ4 today though. :) Looking forward to Space Siege, Spore and Lich King from the list, plus some XBOX 360 games that are obviously not on the list. :)

It's called "Call of Duty: World At War" and as mittens said, being developed by Treyarch. It's unclear if COD5 will be Infinity Ward's, if they'll call their next one COD6 or if both teams are dropping the old numbers. The one high point is that Treyarch will be using the engine from COD4 for World At War and will apparently include all the ranking and unlock stuff for the multiplayer portion. So there's some hope, I guess. :)

Everquest 2 is (or was ) the "prime rival to World of Warcraft". SWG launched more than a year earlier and is SciFi, not Fantasy like EQ2 and WoW. SWG never rivalled WoW. As for 100,000 subscribers? I seriously doubt it's anything like that many anymore. Unless you're going to include people on the Trial accounts or oldtimers who've got free time to try and lure them back, I expect the number is more around the 50-75,000 mark at most. Enough to keep it from folding but not
