Yes, I would note I was hoping that as a founder at the 99 dollar level I was kind of hoping for a copy of the game on steam and xbox or wherever else so I could be able to play my friends in melee anywhere. As it is, I'd be happy to shell out for another code if there was some kind of discount, but I hope they take it into account and at least give us a choice. I also have Steam Link :)

I'm definitely in favor of as many 'what the heck' moments as possible. The game is all about encountering and dealing with the unexpected, right? As long as it's not a frustration "what the heck." I know I got kind of annoyed by the end of Mass Effect 3 while holding down and scanning planets, but it wasn't really the scanning of planets I disliked - I could have done that for another 20 hours - it was the holding down the mou

I definitely like the idea of 'unwrapping a present' with regards to scanning new planets and having them look different after. not a bad way to tell which ones you've already investigated as well.

The gas giants look great. I have to also say that I feel the planets we've seen are, on average, a little more 'dialed up' than I'd like (I generally agree with Tilt in this thread). I'm curious to see what they look like actually rendered and also how they look when you 'back out' to the solar system view, if we're flying around. I'm just assuming that this is concept art and it's really hard to judge from concept art. I might fe

The one thing that Star Control had given me that I've never found anywhere else was a game that felt FOCUSED on "talking to aliens" - which is exactly all I've ever wanted. I know a lot else went into it, but I would have loved it even if it was just a long string of alien conversations. Just thought I'd interject that. While it's possible I've put just as much time into playing my friends in melee or just playing against computer, if anyone ever asked what "star control"

I just got my steamlink at gamestop as well, specifically for playing local multiplayer on games like this in the living room - looking forward to it! It was odd though, I hadn't been in one forever to actually purchase something. I do buy physical games for my 3ds and wii u, but 90% of the time used online and 10% of the time in store at best buy with the gamers club discount. besides that, I only really do physical games as kickstarter rewards. I've actually go

My worries aren't as much about setting up the game modes as they are about balancing the ships. It seems like designing a ship for competitive multiplayer is very different than figuring out the right balance for a campaign. If the past holds true, though, it makes sense to balance for the campaign here and then let the multiplayer community trial and error it until there are obvious favorites and ones that need nerfing or boosting - then perhaps making those options for multipla

I'm not entirely convinced that long term staying power will come from multiplayer competitive instead of the modding / multiverse / multiplayer co-op aspects. This seems like if it's made as a robust toolset, that might end up having a lot more of a community. These days there are endless options for multiplayer games and I honestly think this will always be a niche thing - when it first came out for our generation we may have put in a huge amount of time into playing each other, but

Super hard sidequest boss battles would be great. I remember in the PS era final fantasies researching and trying again and again with optional bosses, some I gave up on, some I was super proud of beating. I would LOVE the option (like with the pirate) of being able to weasel out of elements of it, work the dialog, maybe even recruit them (not for and OP bonus, but for some small bonus in some way more than a normal ship). I liked that kind of option. It could be

Definitely think broadening ability for setting up teams is a good idea. I've been thinking and if there is a co-op campaign, I feel like it would have to play differently than the main one. It's hard to figure it - but I do remember playing SC2 through several times shoulder to shoulder with a friend. With my spouse, I'd love to be able to play together on both our laptops, but it feels like it would be very very hard to implement. I can see it working best

Yeah, while I understand not using the other races (to an extent) I would love to have mentions - something at LEAST that has it feel like it's in the same universe.

I would really love local multiplayer - it's basically a requirement for my loving the game. It was the only fun part of melee to me, personally. otherwise melee was just a practice mode for the campaign to me. a co op campaign would be killer in addition to the single player, but i feel it would have to be separate since it seems the gameplay would be so different.

As for another SC3? Honestly, I'd take it. I know SC3 has a sour taste for many people but there were some gold moments in that game and I spent many hours enjoying it. Just because it wasn't near as good as the prior stuff, it wasn't absolute trash either, personally. With the modding tool opportunities, I hope to see the ability to play many complete adventures in this style. But, you know, I'd throw money off a cliff if people told me it was how

^ I would gladly pay more if Stardock would throw in a loot crate with posters, toys, a making-of book with concept art, production notes, etc. Might be out of their area of expertise as this is something usually done only by bigger companies, but I would buy it without any reservations. Same here, I would love to see more opportunities to support this (and some ways to show off my love of star control around the house. I would

I feel like maybe there was some confusion about what a founders program is - if you've followed stardock it might be more familiar (though this was the first I was interested in) but this was a game I'd definitely kickstart (or something similar) and the rewards are also similar. This may be a favorite property for many of us but it's definitely not a well known one to everyone, a cash cow franchise or a gigantic production company. I'm happy to give them my support and the p

I'm ok with timed events/quests as long as there's a way for me to get back to it. If it's supposed to be really rare / easter eggy, then perhaps just having it so it only happens every [large amount of time] still makes it feel unique and 'be here or miss it', but I can look up the next time it will happen after exploring on my own. I like exploring on my own as much as possible, but I DO experience the anxiety that I'll miss something that migh
