No, its not that you don't receive anything of value in return, it just seems odd for a company to ask its clients to pay for its marketing expenses. This appeal for subscriptions comes off like a PBS fundraiser, "for the community", when it is a private company offering specific benefits for a price. Or does Stardock expect to list advertising on the on the "income" side of the ledger rather than an "expense"?
