Quote "Actually that doesn't apply when you win the game. We are talking about Liberation by your allies or another race with other motives for doing so. If you have won the game then there is no way another race can liberate any other because they have all been beaten by you." Okay, Ancient Warrior, I concede this point to you. This feature could be quite interesting... and bizarre. I can imagine having a long vanquished enemey re-emerge from the ashes, liberated by another A.I. playe

I agree that ship design and therefore tactical combat do not seem to fit into the GalCiv concept. However they can be a ton of fun in the right game. Here is my idea the future of ship design and tactical combat: Moo3 designers were right in making battles real time. Too many ships to try and pilot them all yourself. The arrangement of them into fleets, with specific ships filling specific roles (point defense, escort, carriers, etc.) is also a great idea; it makes sense and seems more re

To get back to the original thread topic for a moment... With all due respect to those who have actually played the game (which I have not) and who may actually know what they are talking about (which I very well may not ;) ) I have to restate my earlier position on the problem of allowing races to re-emerge. From what I'm reading here it appears possible to win the game without killing off all the other races. So say you achieve some kind of economic or cultural victory. Who's to say that i

The problem I see with this suggestion (although at first I liked it) is that it would make winning impossible. The concept for this game seems to be that the A.I. and player work from the same set of rules with no cheating. If its okay for you to rise from the ashes, then any apparent victory you have would be, by definition, only temporary. Maybe if you would have clicked "next turn" 500 more times after winning, a once-defeated foe would re-emerge. Nothing other than total obliteration of ev

First contact: Greetings to all! This is my first post on this forum. Speaking from my own experience, despite the lack of hoopla in the printed press, I think that there will be steady growth of interest in GalCiv as the word begins to spread. From what I've read, this appears to have been the trend for quite a while; but I believe it will go mainstream in the coming months. I'd never heard of the GalCiv series until I started casting about for something to fill the void left in my life by the
