and did I miss being able to name a star? that sucks, I would have had a good name too [e digicons]:([/e]
Well you might feel better, by knowing how I wasted mine,. As I have no idea, what was the name I proposed there :D. And I don't know if I will ever find it out, as the proposals were at least half anonymous (so I can't see the name from anywhere anymore, but technically stardock might have some record of it).</
People pay zero attention and don't engage, then bitch about not being involved.
A really old commenting, but let's do a quiz, which of these is bitching? 1) "Great times, I'm truly grateful that Stardock has taken up the burden of continuing the story" 2) "I can be patient, I was just wondering if I was missing something" 3) "Take it easy on my, I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just asking
Quest logs detract from the game, but *physically leaving* the game in search of notes you keep elsewhere doesn't? I beg to differ....
It's a good point. Immersion is really important in games like star control, where the mood means a lot.
I belive star control would make best comparison and take lessons from cRPGs at least regarding these talks (especially automatic logs). At least MMORPGs don't make a proper comparison imo. But what was really good in SC2 plot-wise was the choices. Now I admit that I have a lousy memory, so feel free to correct me, but I think my point is mostly valid: - Pkunk going to yehat territory and getting slaughtered (even if you allowed that to happen it was ok regarding the story an
Wait, are you talking about company splash screens?
Yes. Though I wasn't talking about something specific, but used it as an example of forced scene, that can not be skipped. There are company splash logos, cut scenes and small actions (like quasi-space), that are forced on the player. Nowadays less than before though, but they do still come around.
Quoting L7hachi, reply 22 ... You gotta realize that some cut scenes are there to hide loading screens.
Well the experiences I mostly remember at this moment are from strategy games and there I
I haven't been active on these forums, but I ended up spending my coding freetime to read SC:origin forums (an hour in the morning before family wakes up and I end up going to work :). I like the idea off good support for modding and I think Brad is right on that. The only thing that it requires to be successful though, is enough SC:origin fans to create the mods. If you feel like there is strong enough community for star control, then even just making awesome modding tools and
I have another question. If you encourage it to be ridiculous and reading between the lines: something special and If I try to be overly smart, I will try to come up with a planet name in Finnish (as my native tongue). Is that A) Ok? B) what do you mean with letters? Are characters like: ä, ö, å allowed? If there are restrictions, then you might want to list them here.
Star control 2 Starcraft-series UFO: Enemy Unknown / X-COM: Terror from the Deep / xenonauts Master of Orion Europa universalis I was about to leave the last spot empty, but even though it doesn't have as big emotional value as the others, it is the best strategy game I hav
Quoting Myzimensi, reply 8 What about Mmmgm, Farilou, Recursors and Punzervault? Haha! Wonderful! I would LOVE it if the Arilou or Orz introduced the game, and then we don't have to hear from
I think I will also introduce myself, even though looking through the introductions, I feel like I don't deserve to be here (very Finnish trait). My name is Janne. I have been waiting for star control 2 sequel for almost 20 years now and even though toys for bob are not involved, luckily I have learned to trust and respect Stardock! I see star control a very challenging game especially in today's game development. It is a almost unique genre that has been explored very
