Im not too familiar with WiMax but I've been using WiFi recently but my understanding is that WiMax has a longer range signal than WiFi does. The technology works similar to a cellphone which provides the service/signal from anywhere withing the range of a station. I use WiFi with my PalmOne and it is great for quick browse to the net or even transfer files to and from a PC. However, just like a cellphone, you can loose signal if you wonder
