Anyone have any opinions on the Philips BDM4350UC ? I'm looking for a monitor that could also double as a TV, since I don't watch TV that often. It would cost me about $540 and I plan to get 2. One for gaming, and the other to monitor the forums and occasionally watch TV.

What is the advantage if any of having a 100hz or higher refresh rate vrs 1ms response time? Why can't I just use a regular good quality 60hz monitor which has 1440p reso?
Newer HDMI formats won't matter for any monitor you are looking for now. It will mainly just increase the band
I feel like I am doing something wrong with the flak because the AI can do a lot more damage to me than I can do to it. I get the feeling that the crazy cyborg gets a damage boost sometimes. Anyways, when I fire the flak I get considerably less explosions and they almost never hit the opposing ship.
I played a few hours while testing all the ships against the Crazy Cyborg. Here are some observations, opinions, and bugs I came across. Bugs - primary fire stuck on sometimes after winning a round - The Measured ship became invisible a couple matches until destroyed - Occasionally the AI with start with about a full section of crew damaged The Measured - Spamming De-Motivator is highly effective - The AI can beat it with the Scryve Battlecruiser
Yes, it was given in the vault update. The Discord link is: https://discord.gg/VfNVDw9
Fastest boot and load times are from SSD's, particularly one that uses PCIe x4. You need to be careful because some M.2 drives use SATA lanes instead of PCIe; so they are no faster than a regular 2.5inch SSD. In my own build, I am using a 250GB Crucial M4 SSD and a 3TB WD Red HDD. I have the OS, applications, and a few games on the SSD. My main game libraries are on the HDD. Despite it being 5400RPM, it is still as fast if not faster than the 10 year old HDD I had been using befor
I like the burnt orange but for everyone else, a selectable UI color would be better.
Thanks for all the engine/development information, I found it quite interesting having a background in programming myself. My Critiques: 1. Planets in our solar system need to be more realistic (while still using the art scheme) because we have a common idea of what they look like. I think this will bug a lot more people than Cuorebrave or I. 2. The opening quest does seem too much like a fetch quest and I don't want to be boxed into our solar system for an hour, e
I am good with the 3-4 range. I think most everyone who is active on the forums want more details than eve that. Then there are the founders who aren't active. I assume many of them just wanted the pre-order. Anyways, I have no idea if they even check the vault or what their reaction would be.
The sensible ways of doing it would be to either add new planets to existing solar systems or convert placeholder barren worlds with new biomes. (Barren World + DLC Genesis Device = Forest World) Or maybe these placeholder worlds are shielded. Or simply greyed out with a message saying, "Nothing to see here." I am in favor of restricting the number of landable planets anyway, and this just plays into it.
Something like
My problem with adding in different biomes after release is, how would they be added in without screwing up the balance? Will you install a DLC and all of a sudden half of the planets have different biomes? On the other hand, will they be added to a new area of the galaxy? Thereby, you would have certain biomes that only occur in certain areas of the game. I don't see how they could be added in after the fact.
On a tangent, is to have a scavenger hunt across the galaxy to find some late game item that isn't necessary to the plot but cool nonetheless. I would like some puzzles in the game and I think it would be fair if they are optional. As for the hate against mini-games, I actually like the hacking mini-game in Fallout 3-4. My problem with Fallout is the lag that tends to happen when accessing a computer. Therefore, I would prioritize game performance and load times over additional mi
I wouldn't worry too much about it. That was an early concept. I will say that things are looking much better.
Quoting Hunam_, reply 133 In my case I'm totally fine with planetary exploration being as it is right now (ref.: teaser trailer) IF there's MORE to do on the planets. Puzzle games, mini games, mini bosses, racing etc. I'm expecting 66% of the planets to be "duds".
I hope the modding will allow for changing the game mechanics to some degree as well. Most of the modding I have done is in Mount & Blade/Warband. While in concept it is easy to mod in, some of it is poorly organized which adds tedium to figuring out where something went wrong, but I digress. I was able to change some game mechanics around, albeit not the neatest, to add more ways to fire projectiles. Will there be scripting of some sort that the game runs partially on, i.e. Mount

I am glad to hear of the more open approach to modding. I hope to do a bit of it when this is released, if not before.
Thanks for a more in-depth update. I look forward to more updates like this one. For planets, I agree with having another medium such as an ice world. Please don't have such large ice crystals as in page 11, they extend too far into space. Other than that, the planets are looking much better from the system screen. Star system count looks good to me. I don't want a crazy large number of systems, so 700 would be great. <
My 2 cents is that upgrades should only be for the main ship in singleplayer. Also, there shouldn't be customizable loadouts for the Supermelee ships either. The only thing that might be acceptable to me would be the addition of preset variants of ships, but again I don't really like that idea either. I don't mind if there aren't a ton of ships as long as they are well designed. I would much rather have a handful of unique ships than a plethora of mediocre and repetiti
