Well, i have found a custom way to manually "disable" live folders(you do not actually disable them though)... i too am using a custom icon pack, so what i did was to place a folder in the folder i want to "disable" the live folder feature. Then cut/paste every content of the live folder in the folder i made, and that is what worked for me.
