Yeah, maybe blackmage is right. I swear I can't get into a game because I have 16 games and a winning record. I'm either a noob or a smurf account. It can't be that I've put in some time on the forums, played some noob games and am an ok mid level player.

There are routinely two or three games being made when I log on, but it can be difficult at times. You'll probably have to start your own games in the beginning and take some lumps.

I'll qualify this with the fact that I'm sort of a noob. I played this game a year or so ago for like a week straight at a LAN party and then didn't touch it again until a week ago. I've now played about 10 games online and I pretty much seek out 3v3 noob matches... this is largely due to the fact that if I try to play in anything non-noob I get kicked. As for game settings I hadn't really noticed. I had assumed default, but did notice High AI HPs. Why high strength to
Do you mean Elo as in the statistical rating system that FIDE uses for chess tournaments?
Huh, I do mean Elo... I always thought that was an acronym for something. Wikipedia tells me it was named after Arpad Elo, my mistake. In any case, yes, a ranking system akin to that system is the best for matchmaking IME.

The best solution is matchmaking based on ELO IMO. No more picking opponents or picking maps. Use the same sort of system WC3 uses. Two game types (assume 3v3 expand to other formats if player population allows): Arranged Team: Get your group together, hit start game, matchmaking server finds as appropriate a match as possible. Random Team: Hit start game, it finds 5 opponents closest in ELO, game begins. There will still be jerks, still be leavers

I gotta admit this sort of intrigues me. I could probably fire up DG on my work machine, join the game with him, and assuming I can get the imminent win I can wait out his paused game for months, literally. I've seen him advertise games before, I'll have to keep an eye on his game times. It's one of those interesting challenges life provides you...

Yeah, so I played this game like a year ago at a LAN party. I'm probably at the upper end of noob. I finally installed it again and tried to play online... took me about five tries to find a match I wasn't insta-booted from (all labeled noob v noob). I realize I had a 0-0 record, but give a guy a chance. I do have friends to play with so getting games won't be a problem, but it was a very unfriendly beginning to things.
