Lol, it's funny you mention this, I happened to pick up a 1979 version of Starfleet Battles (Designers Edition) over xmas. Visuals leave much to be desired, but what a gameplay system; the concept of impulses is very awesome. Great to have that in my collection now.

Ok thank you, I will try and stay up on it every 30 days, and I will post regardless, but it would be nice to not reply to a thread that's old and/or dormant. Part of it is I was always assuming there would be notifications and I was waiting for them to come through, so I wasn't paying attention. The short of it is though, a notification would make my life so much easier with regards to this. Cheers
Is it possible to receive email notifications for when there is new content added to the Vault? I love this project, but I'm super busy and they keep flying under my radar, so it would be extremely helpful to me. I can't figure out how to set it up in preferences. Thanks!
Late to the party, but I personally dig the angles and dynamic camera for the ship combat. The fact that the planets act as moving obstacles particularly intrigue me, and I think this could lead to lots of fun gameplay that's not repetetive. I get confused by sense of scale though.
Personally, I would hope so, but I guess it all depends on the reasons the aliens aren't coming back, whether it was more of a designer choice or a licensing choice. I could see it being either because the SC2 races are so iconic and special, SC3 did nothing to capture that. I suspect the technology will transfer over (if anything have different names) because it's still integral to that Star Con game mechanics.
I think logs and ruins are a great idea, anything that continues stkry or backstory. Especially with precursor artifacts, there's a treasure trove of possibility. I'll never forget that initial moment of intrigue in SC2 for discovering that signal on Pluto at the beginning, it was like an instant hook.
edit: whoops double post
Planetary resource harvesting was such an integral part of the game (and a complete mini-game in and of itself) it has to be close to the same level of depth as SC2 had. To fall back on an ME level of harvesting would do a disservice to the original franchise, but I feel confident this is not the case because minerals in SC are far more valuable then they were in ME. And the amount of time people spent harvesting in SC2, for me it was a good third of the game. <p
To this day, there is still no canonical answer as to why the Klingons developed different facial features between 1970 and 1985! Worf once said it "wasn't something Klingons discussed with outsiders". Such a Star Control answer! I totally agree with the power of unanswered questions (even if they derive from deus ex machina), but I'm going to be that guy: Klingon's different facial features was canonically explained in an Enterprise episode where it
Great to be on board and thanks for considering me worthy, seriously. Let's make this game great!
