Frogboy, This thread was posted today and its definition of what copyright does contradicts what I have read here, meaning that If you want to protect your stuff you use Trademark. http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/User:Pat#What_rights_are_protected_under_copyright.3F Reading this thread implies that F&P literally own and operate all things
Frog, My challenge was directed to the Fred n Paul crowd. Stardock does not need to prove ownership of those assests, Fred n Paul do, thus my statement. They claim "creatorship" of SC1 & 2 lets see evidence.
But then you start to dig and it turns out they didn’t have any rights to the music, the art, much of the writing, etc. all this time.
^^^ THIS I need the tools over at UQM forums, Reddit, and F&P to come and disprove this. Pony boys lets see the evidence to the contrary or you need to leave the courtroom.
I don't believe I've ever made an angry post about Star Control, nor one that complained about my posts being removed. If you find one, please tell me.
Elestan, I was grouping you in with the folks who (I thought) are in P&F's camp. I think it was Pscycho44 or such who was complaining that posts were removed from steam and I inferred that you had as well. I happily retract any such s
I do not do enough deep cpu intensive applications to need that higher clock. I am also not savvy enough to do it without screwing it up. I can get as far as an amateur computer build with water cooling but deliding and 'effing' it up would worry me.
Great information! Ill just leave it where it is. I am not sure if my faster turn times in GC3 and Civ6 are due to fast 6 core 12 thread cpu or due to having 32 gigs of ddr4 ram..
Greetings! I currently have my 8700K over clocked to 4.7. This is the 'burst' or turbo speed it runs at when under load. I set the 'resting' state speed at 4.5. I am not sure what the terminology. Is there a value in pushing the over clock to 4.9 or even 5.0? I am using Corsairs H110i water cooler. I understand that speed will mean a few frame rates of improvement in game but is it worth it for the extra heat wear the pro

Last I saw was from mid/late march on their blog/twitter and the Music Paul sent to Serosis on the UQM forum The court imposed a gag order, as I understand it. So I assume you wont be hearing much from them until the court case is resolved.
Ok Ill say it....Thank God. I was tired of their self abs
I have seen a few newer posts on their SC reddit page. Most are PNF fans posting angrily such as Psycho, Icewind, Elestan and others. Mostly about how thier posts are removed.
@Darkgildon If you are asking me my opinion, to be honest Stardock could call it whatever and as long as it has a good story, and good game play I will play it and tell my friends. However, the name 'Star Control' just sounds cool. It really does. I like it and well since its already on the label, I say lets use it. I have zero interest in learning about any of the characters in the UQM, SCI or II. I really could care less. If for example a game comp
@DarkGildon, you are correct I am cynical and you are also correct that not having spent hours in either SCI or II means I am not the fanatical fan where some are going to say, if it does not have the Spathi its not Star Control. I am irritated with the fanatics who would not even give SCO the time of day. They are the ones losing out. After all its 'just a game' right? We are all here because we love games and are passionate about them.
Quoting Larsenex, reply 396 I disagree. What makes it a 'Star Control' Game is the adventure aspect. If you never knew about Star Control (and most of us are dying off mind you), then this game is Star Control to the many thousands who will see it for the first time. You an
My biggest issue with this whole thing is that the ONLY reason I'd play a Star Control game is because it IS a Star Control game. If you're going to completely disregard the history of the game and the history of the races (and I get you have reasons) then it's not really Star Control anymore no matter how many times you put the name on it. Example: If the Spathi go from being abject cowards with a single eyestalk and
This game is going to be awesome!
I have a question. Is there a court date for when the both parties go before the judge and the judge determines if the 1988 thing is or is not valid? I understand that delaying is a tactic to wear out the other party. I would hate to see resources from SD be wasted which could otherwise be used to create great games.

This made me realize something. In the legal update thread it was mentioned that Folks here side with SD (naturally) while the majority of Star Control fans side with F&P which is outside this forum. Think about that. I am of the age when the original games were published yet I never heard of them. After reviewing the features and 'fun' that SCO will bring I was excited to be on board with it. I think that if this game is done well
Talonius, As soon as F&P tried to cancel the trademark that Stardock owns they stepped up the entire aggressiveness. At that point the gloves are off and now we 'stick em with the pointy' end. Go for everything.
After watching the video I realized this guy gets paid from donations. I also felt he presented his ideas with bias. This leads me to believe that F&P made a sizable donation to his Patreon page in exchange for a video hit piece on his end, making it appear his expertise has now judged in favor of F&P. He never once empathized the point of view of Stardock. It is very telling actually. In any event his slant on legalities makes you think Stardock never had any rights to Star Control a
I work in an office and I am required to be professional on the phone while interacting with clients. The above post (shown by Frog) to me feels like it was written by someone not qualified to speak to the public or to customers. I can't believe that they are letting posts like that out especially while in litigation.
So if I may ask, what is the correct response to P&R's tweet above? There is what Frog wants to respond with vrs what is the correct response.... what is the correct one?
Actually I like the irregular, bumpy planet you first made. It really represents real planets. Bumpy, irregular, oblate, super huge mountains! >>> Pluto has mountain ranges with mountains miles high yet is smaller then our moon. <img src="https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/styles/full_width/public/thumbnails/image/krunmaculaunannotated2.jpg?itok=E2pGe_N0" alt="NASAâs New Horizons spacecraft zooms in on the southeastern portion of Plutoâs great ice

I NEVER heard of Star Control until Stardock came along and started promoting it. Where in the hell was FRED and PAUL in 2005 promoting the game? Where were they in 2009? 2011? Why only after there is a lawsuit do I suddenly become aware that the alleged creators of Star Control are pitching a fit because NOW they want to do a game and suddenly they are unable to do so? I visited their twitter page or whatever they call it. The way I am reading their plan is they desire
