Good post, pretty much agree with most of what OP has written.

Arty is extremely deadly in AoS. I love spamming Artemis and Cronus, the group AI is smart, they'll automate shooting and retreating while i prepare my other battalion for melee. Like you mentioned, shields are kinda their hard counter but its not implemented in AoS, not sure if the devs intend to add in shield units or shield generators but hopefully they do at least put in those dome shield units.
Yea, those should be added. But later in 2016. Generally AoS is missing Game Enders in form of nukes/arti/cannon and experimentals. I've ran into a couple of stalemate battles and it dragged too long, luckily people start to d/c. However there should be a toggle to enable/disable for both Game Ender Structures and Experimentals when creating a session.
I think its time they "retire" from FE and focus on E2015. Recently theres been a huge comeback in turn based and 4x games genre and of modern design(not the classic mechanics) which kinda makes FE obsolete save minority of diehard fans. Ppl change, move on, so do their preferences and perspective. Goes the same for stardock, they need to reinvent or at least refresh...
I don't like the idea of starting off supremely powerful and I do not like the idea of one enemy. Nor do I like it that there is no tech tree or design. Still, I would buy the founders programme as I love the series so much!
I think E2015 is leaning to more of a combat oriented gamestyle like AoW3. I kinda like that approach. You can see the similarities: AoW3
I didn't like the unit customization and unit templates thingy. To me it kinda dilutes the rock, paper, scissors tactical aspect in the turn based combat. I'd prefer if they had more roles and specialization to units more like pre-determined roles for different unit templates in addition to customization that is within that role. AoW did this well with their different specializations, tiers, category of units but it didn't have customization.
Divinity Original Sin is so far the only game i've backed that turned out meeting my expectations, in fact Larian over-delivered. You guys should try it out if you're into CRPG and Turn Base Combat. It is honestly the CRPG we're all been waiting for, i'll be bold and say DOS might just have started the revival of CRPG genre. I can't wait for Steam Workshop to be integrated and players start cranking out their own mods, gonna have awesome stories to play...
RTS holds a special place in my heart. My first owned PC game was Dune II/2000(The DOS games i played at the school library and consoles don't count haha). RTS was also the only game genre i played competitively too, Starcraft and Warcraft III(I wasn't good lol!!!) Patiently waiting for the return of RTS genre. I backed Planetary Annihilation but unfortunately it wasn't the SupCom successor i'm looking for [e digicons]:([/e] . Loved SupCom, the massive scale RTS is aw
Thx for info guys. I spend the whole of last night reading about the lore, like it. Now i know where the Asari from ME came from, Syreen LOL. How about the gameplay? I currently on the train of thought its gonna be a space RPG. So like maybe a semi open world in space with you piloting your ship in first/third person and flying around doing quests and main plot till the end. No base & unit building, diplomacy, commanding fleets, creating own empire etc, basically no 4x elements?</
Never played Star Control but Stardock making a prequel got me interested. So what kinda game is Star Control? At first glance it seems like an X3 game but without 4x elements, so kinda like a space RPG? Anyone care to enlighten me?
Yes but only if you think the return on investment is worth it and if it doesn't take development resources away from future GalCiv 3 expansions
Basically this. I don't want a reboot at the sacrifice of other releases.
Damn, so excited, GalCivIII, new Elemental game... If ya gonna have a founder's pack for new Elemental game, count me in. That said, thats some drastic changes, seems the new Elemental game is going down the MoM route. Which i'm happy with and welcome with open arms. Hopefully we will have more content too.
Whatever happens, happens lol... Besides, i think by now the devs prolly have decided and work out what type of combat they want for encounters. Our arguing ain't gonna change anything...
He needs a scar or some visible injuries!!!!!
Oh wow, i thought it was my 3 games that were corrupted or something, but pre-Undead DLC saves worked fine for horses. Thx for the heads up!!!
Personally i find Sion one of the most useless units for Empire. Only reason i train them is to make them into Governors for party bonuses or sometimes Defenders for party bonuses too. But leveling them for those traits is also ridiculously hard as range units eat them for breakfast. They are significantly inferior to 6 man units, Sovereigns, Champions and even the Henchmen. Honestly i dunno why they are even exist in this game. That is, until Undead Empire... For Undead Empir
Yea, the growth/population is really dependent on where your spawn at when you first start the game. Personally I was lucky and had humanoid mobs for me to farm pop and get pioneers but after it still get super slow and stun the growth cos I didn't have death shard around. One thing that annoys me is how dead humanoid enemies will add pop to the NEAREST city. Wish we had a way to choose or transfer pop between cities. Always find myself unable to train pioneers from earlier cities
Well, Legendary Heroes was so friggin well done, thats the only name that stays in their minds, even me. LH felt like a totally new game and it was so much better than FE, even if it was pretty much a well polished FE with extra goodies....
I'm trying to learn how to play Resoln. Spend the whole day browsing through guides and threads. Also played 3 games as Resoln. Till now i still can't grasp the essence of Resoln. My observations and the issues i face: Most magic/mana dependent faction and the spells are extremely devastating. Most humanoid trained units(mainly the melee) almost totally useless due to equipment locked to leather. The gravewardens and archers still fairly deployable, but not via
Would be more sensible if they had Tactical Combat AND Combat Viewer(This is where auto-resolve comes in, just that players can view the "battle" that took place in auto-resolve). Honestly, in this era of gaming, having Tactical Combat is a must have, young gamers nowadays demand a lot of action and get frustrated or bored with games that are purely strategic turn based games. Having both will appease both the ol' timers and the young gamers. Also these young gamers will be the ma
Just created a thread to say im pretty impressed with all the changes in LH. It feels simplified but at the same time the depth is even deeper and everything is organized, i just don't know how to explain it, this is an amazing expansion. Everything is so fined tuned and improved that i overlook all the minor bugs and stuff. Keep up the good work! Pls continue creating wonderful games!
Yea, the spell is OP... the casting time, reduced max range and death cancellation is a good balance fix, but in addition to this they should give the AI a script to counter/react accordingly... AI is smart but more or less lacking in common sense... Fly away now Fly away now, Fly away...
Eh, so it applies to EU only right? Im from Singapore, will i have to bear additional costs? Have yet to receive mine though...
Slightly out of topic but is there a way to equip your army with other armor/weapons besides the ones you researched? Like for example I would like to make an assassin unit but daggers are too crappy to make it viable for a normal unit. Hell even making assassin class for my champions didn't work very well as the daggers are lackluster. I usually went Path of Assassin with Bows =( Is there like some "Disenchant" system in game so i can integrate the weapon/armor
This guy can be found in Arena too right? I remember 2 days back, i got pawned hard when fighting him and 2-3 other demons and a friggin huge demon, focused on demon first, then when his turn came, almost my entire party got wiped. I also saw a "Recruit-able Champion" called Dark Wizard or something(I was Tarth), think the rating was deadly but i have been avoiding him. Thats him?
