I am sooooo happy to see that many of you are also disappointed with the AI Surrender - Dead World change. I have fingers crossed that some of your suggested changes may come to pass. The first time I saw the dead world surrender happen, I was really upset. I had taken a huge number of turns to amass a fleet clear across the map to invade an AI civilization, and suddenly he surrendered and all the worlds became dead. What a collosal waste of time for me

This thread was started in relation to Dark Avatar, but I'm having the same problem with Twilight. It seems that I have this problem also. I'm playing Twilight and it usually runs great for an hour or so, and then suddenly crashes. My Debug.err file has the "flipping back" message... Here are my video details cut from the debug file: Display Info Display device 1: Device Name: \\.\DISPLAY1 Card Name: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Manufacturer:

I've been having problems with random freeze-ups and crashes. I've done all the things mentioned in other parts of the forum to try and solve the issue, but it still happens during every session after playing the game for awhile. Here is my debug.err file. Sorry about the length.... Debug Message: Version v2.02 Twilight of the Arnor last updated on: Wed Dec 3 09:43:09 2008 Debug Message: Could not open reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MA

Thanks for the tips. I have to admit that this game has a great community of people on these forums to help us new guys out. I was actually able to finish a game last night. So today, I'm starting a new one to see if I can get through an entire game with no problems.

I think you're right. It seems to be because they had a large fleet. Seems kinda cheap though, since I could see their ships taking hits but no damage occurring even though they had no defense whatsoever.

I just downloaded the game about 2 weeks ago, so I would hope that its the latest. My version says it is 2.02 Game just crashed on me again. This time it was right after I completed a reserach. It was still on the "Research Completed" screen, and it just froze up. Had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out. By the way, I followed the instructions on the Bug faq and I have alread updated my video driver, and I made sure that my virtual memory was at l

Thanks, I'll try that if it happens again. I started to wonder if it might have to do with having the Auto-Survey and Auto-Explore both on at the same time.

Help me to understand this: Thalens had ships with 9 Beam attack and 0 defenses of any kind. I had ships with 10 mass driver attack and 14 shield defense. The Thalen ships were destroying my ships without taking hardly any damage at all. How is this possible? Am I missing something?

First off, I think this is (could be) a great game. Before I go further, let me say that I'm playing Twilight on a machine that easily exceeds the requirements of the game. 2.4 Ghz dual-core, 4 Gb RAM, running Vista 1. I have yet to finish a game without it crashing. Its been crashing in 2 ways: (1) if I play for an extended amount of time, like 5 or 6 hours straight, then it gets an out of memory error during one of the autosaves. Sounds like

I just paid for GalCiv II, downloaded and installed Impulse, followed the instructions on the email, and GalCiv II won't download. It says "Preparing to Download" and then after about a minute or so, it errors out and says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" What gives? Why is this being made so difficult? What do I have to do now. Note: I already went into Windows security and set Impulse to have an exception for the firewall.
