I think the strike craft are pretty lame. Not the fact that they're there, but the fact that each faction gets fighters and bombers, and nothing else. What about interceptors, the anti-fighter fighter that's too light to take out a bomber squadron in one pass but can be the fighter pilot's bane? Or a defender, a slow-moving strike craft that's a cap ship's last line of defense between it and the incoming bomber squadron? Or even a variety of bombers, such as

Just had a bone to pick with the genre. I've been playing Sins for about a week now, and I have been enjoying it. But to be honest, I don't really see what makes this a 4X game. Sure you expand, explore, etc., but there's very little diplomacy, and needing multiple (read: more than two) large fleets, even at the late-game, is extremely rare. I know it's supposed to be "RT4X," fine, but the only thing making it seem 4X is the amount of time it takes to collect resources
Before I begin, I tried searching for something along these lines, couldn't find it. Okay so I just installed the game after researching it for a long long time. I'm not new to the 4X genre, though I must admit I am pretty new to the RT 4X "sub" genre if you will (I've played way too much Civ 4). My problem is that, in the three times I've started a game (each time as a different faction), it seems that my resource collection rate is extremely low...
