Maxsim- Ok, thanks for the info. One question, though. Why the two domains?
is that an "IT'S ALIIIIVVEEEE!!!!! AAHHH HA HA AH HAHA HA HAAAAA!!!!" comment?
Kind of. It was more of a "Holy S***! I can't believe it actually comes out today!" comment.

Oh yeah, those models are awesome! I just hope that they're not "too awesome." If a ship is too detailed, Sins doesn't like it and can slow down a lot. But seriously, those models are amazing.
I like Kuat as the ring world. Your idea for revolving solar systems, but I still have to say, I prefer the current way. It would solve the problems, but I like it the way it is.
I was just able to get to his site again. Here is EvilleJedi's most recent post: "we are doing some maintenance to the main server, so things may be intermittent, I will be locking the forums so we don’t lose anything and so the backup goes nicely, when we come back up I will be updating a lot of the software to supposedly better versions. This won’t impact the mod for Sins or HW2 at all other than availability of news and downloads."
I hope everyone reading this thread will help spread the word about the DRM and join us in giving the game the lowest possible rating on every such forum you belong to. Also please tell you family and friends and ask them to do the same. The Spore message was only lightly heard and it was blamed on stupid people that did not know better and of course infringers who had nothing to gain from such a thing but hey reason is not a needed requirement to be a corporate president.
One other thing. I can't seem to get to the forums on the new site. It tells me that I am "Forbidden," and don't have access. Is this just a site glitch, or do I need permission even though I am a mod developer? Also, the home page wants to install ActiveX Control, or something along those lines. Why does it need to install this, and do I maybe need it to get to the forums? Thanks
Hrm, well Gamespot listed it for Wii and Mac, since I was reading the layoff article on it that's where I looked Dunno.
You're right. I was doing some more research to find out for sure. There is a Wii version, but it is apparently still in the early stages of development and no one knows when it will actually come out. There is also the Windows, Mac, and DS versions, as well as some sort of strange spin-off for the iPod.
If you don't mind my asking, why the website change? Was there something wrong with the old one, or was it just time for a change?
Spore is available for the Wii and Mac apparently. I doubt the Mac numbers are very high, but Wii who knows. I tried a quick google but couldn't find PC-exclusive sales numbers, and it's not spelled out in EA's quarterly report. But considering that Spore PC topped Warhammer Online, which sold 1.2 million, I expect that most of the ~2 million sales are on PC. Still, the bottom line is EA isn't posting a loss due to lost sale
don't want to speak for EvilleJedi, because he is in charge of this mod, but I belive that he said a while back that the Republic and CIS will eventually be incorporated into the mod, but he wants to finish the Empire/Rebels first. At least, I'm pretty sure he said that, so I apologize if I'm wrong. Did he? I guess I read it wrong. But why have both the CIS/Clones AND the Reble/Empire? I'm no moding expert, and most the stuff
Hmmm 7DS forums aren't working right now
Yeah, Dan says that the site is down at the moment.
It is totally unrealistic to assume that a released game will be perfect. I highly doubt that there is a single game in existence that was finished and released exaclty how the developers want it. Either because of time constaints or hardware limits or something else, there is almost always probably going to be something that doesn't make it into the final product. That is what expansions are for. To get all that stuff that they wanted in but couldn't. I like how they are doing the mini-expan
For the whole "5 limit activation thing," what if you have a problem with the game and have to reinstall it? Then you have to use another activation. At least, I 'm pretty sure you do, so correct me if I'm wrong. While I don't know why you would have to reinstall it over 5 times, if you had a couple of computers that all had a problem, I could see you running out of activations. Just my 2 cents.
That is too bad about the website. I hope you get it up soon. One question, though. If you get the site up in time, which is more likely, a Saturday release or a Sunday one? Thanks
As an admited Vasari lover take this with a grain of salt but: As the most highly advanced "vanilla" race technologically wise - should they not have one Titan more than the others? Or perhaps one "extra" ship that the others don't
Probably, but you would also think that they would be able to just plow down the TEC and Advent, but they couldn't do that. I mean, come one, they are thousands of years more advanced
Ah well that makes me excited to play as them then. Are they fully functional in the current Beta or will be Beta D?
In beta C, the current one, they are pretty much clones of the regular Vasari with a couple of ship names changed. As for D, I can't say for sure. Someone else will have to answer that.
Securom DRM is included. 5 activation limit was the story two weeks ago. It may change, it may not, but they seem to think that it more than generous. I know I don't.
That really sucks. I guess I won't be playing RA3 anytime soon. Of course, I don't want to support EA, so I might not have gotten it anyway. This is just the final nail in the coffin.
I was doing some more research, and I found IGN's reveiw of it. They gave it an 8.2. Although they didn't mention anything about the DRM. It didn't go into much detail, but here is the link to the reveiw, anyway: http://pc.ign.com/articles/924/924694p1.html
That's pretty much the same position I'm in. I never actually bought C&C 3, but my friend got it and the expansion by less then legal means. He is very gald that he didn't actually obtain it through normal methods, if you know what I mean. I played it a little, and it is terrible. Most of the reveiws that I've seen for RA3 say its pretty good, but they don't mention the copy protection. As you said, C&C is the only reason that I would buy from EA, but if I'm going to, it had better be
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 just came out, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is worth buying. I know that it is from the blacklisted EA, but it is still a C&C game, which used to be pretty good (although they're nothing compared to Sins). Does it have the intrusive DRM that EA is known for? Is it any good? Should I even consider buying it? If you can tell me anything useful, thank you in advance.

I liked everything in it except for the limit caps on ships - seeing that those are being upped (and finally reading through all 80 threads and stumbling upon how to up them Myself temporarily) I like it all the better. My "issue" I think at this point is that I'm an avid Vasari player. I like the new races if only to fight against them - I'm very much looking forward to pl
