The problem is that these mods were all made for much earlier versions of the games. The mods section on Impulse does nothing to sort mods by what version they are made for, so chances are, anything that you download is a giant waste of your time. It also doesn't help that the mod developers don't make it clear and obvious which version of the game the mod is compatible with. Your best bet is to look on the Sins filefront page, as they actually do go through the effort of sorting mods

Make sure to check if the game that you are playing has the feature where it only shows mods that are compatible with the game's current version. In Sins of a Solar Empire, for example, they implimented a program that makes all out-of-date mods invisible on the in-game mod screen, thus helping prevent game crashing problems due to trying to load incompatible mods. Also make sure to check that the mod you want to use is compatible with the version of the game that you have.
I noticed recently that the mods listed on the Impulse section for Sins of a Solar Empire have no specific label or organization for what version(s) of the game they are compatible for. It occurrs to me that it might be helpful for some sort of organization to be implemented so that mods that work with pre-1.1 versions are set aside and each new version of the game gets a particular area for mods for that specific version to go. It would certainly help those of us that are trying to look thro
It is entirely up to chance as to whether or not Space Ponies appears on a map. Each time you play a game, there is a small chance that Space Ponies might be on the planet discovery list for that game, but, again, the odds are VERY small. Essentially finding it is all up to luck and chance. Dakroth
