Holy crap! Thanks though for all your input and the link. :) I might just go to sandbox mode. I was hoping for a more involving and evolving story + mission structure. But the overall quality of the campaign is quite lacking really. Too bad. It started to be fun a coupla times. Ah well. It was worth every penny. I will have to just play custom missions which is what I guess we all do eventually anyway. C.

First of all, I know I am not an expert Gal Civer... I am however a seasoned MOO, MOO2, Homeworld and RTS player. I have been playing Galactiv Civ II DL for about 2 weeks on and off and I do pretty good in Sandbox mode. So I know I am not completely retarded in GCII.... I am talking about the Dreadlords Campaign as run from inside of the Dark Avatar (Gold Edition Retail box). I have been playing on NORMAL. And so I should. I understand the game. Normal is about where I fit IMO.</

[quote]there are certain genere are almost plain dead. Space flight sims are totally gone from the PC. RTS and FPS are almost the only things that keeps on rolling off the shelves non stop. I read in the recent issue of PC gamer, that developers are not probably making shorter and shorter RPGs, the new fallout 3 will not be as long as Oblivion or the Baulder's Gate series. with TBS games, thanks to success of Galciv and Civ 4, there are still markets for them. the rest that still are coming out

Thanks for the feeback! So it sounds like I can play using both or lean one way or the other. As I recall in MOO we generally did this planet by planet. Planning a planet was a strategy within itself as you knew that some would be military and others technological in nature. So to simulate that I could leave the Economy screen to all balanced and then micromanage planets to my hearts content? Does that make sense? The other way is to build balanced planets and use the

I have to agree with Craig... I know that people (especially those not in PC gaming very long) walk into an EB store or whatever and right away they see 4 walls and 12 shelves full of Console games and accessories. In the corner is a small collection of PC Game new releases and some previously played titles. They immediatetly start to think... "Well. There goes PC Gaming. Consoles won!" Reality is that as more consoles are released, that market expands. PC games from days of y

I have purchased GCII Gold edition and I love it! I am an old timer PC gamer that was once addicted to Master of Orion and Homeworld (amoung other games on the PC) and this has rekindled my love of turn based Space Strategy games... My question is that when I am in Planet/Colony management and there are the three items at the top (Military, Social and Economic) and I understand how they function but I am confused as to why there is also that other screen where there are sliders w

Why is it that every single year since I played Kings Quest I and MS Flight Sim, on every board I talk on, has someone always started a "Is PC Gaming Dead" thread? I chuckle every single time I see one. I have responded countless times to these kids of threads and had many many really good conversations about this topic. Especially Console versus PC every single time a new console comes out. The answer is no. In fact, as a PC gamer I find I can no longer keep up with t
