Wow, you don't need to have seen the movie to understand what the point of the post was. I've seen it but I didn't recognize/remember the quote, the first sentence was sufficient, and the next reinforces it. To the OP: I say good job for exposing people.

I thought heavy manufacturing wasn't very useful either , but I found that you can use it to scuttle and instantly change your strike craft from bombers to fighters (or vice versa) if need be, so that's not too bad :). And the production speed increase for your planet is handy at times. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the tax rate listed on the planet what will be stolen by Embargo? It's a good ability before everyone is running around with huge fleets. I basically a
See, I'm amused that they gave it 60%, and yet the review factors add up to give 72.5%.(See the bottom of the page)You're right!!! I'd like to see where those 12.5 points went... Looks like he's just throwing out arbitrary numbers to suit what he wants. (the least he could do is lower the review factors, guess he's lazy) And what does "value" even mean there. If the game had a perceived "value" of 80%, wouldn't that mean the game is closer to an 80? Could be I just have no id
I personally questioned the part where you don't do any research to aquire any cap ships. I agree that big gaps shouldn't be map between Frigates and Cap Ships, but Cap Ships should be researched, and the first one shouldn't be free. If anything, it should be more expensive.
I think the idea is that if any of these races were to establish a new colony, it would not be done without some sort of capital ship being used as an escort to oversee the operation. Thus, the first capi

So the question is: at would point would 600 credits worth of LRMs increase total damage output by 5%? 1 lrm = 275 credits 600 credits = 2.18 lrms (x+2.18)/x = 1.05 x = 43.6 once you have 43 lrms getting the upgrade would be more effective than spending that money on lrms. This is, of course, ignoring that you will need increased fleet capacity.
I haven't played the game yet, but 5% to 10% is 200% times the amount of damage, or twice...In a rpg, I would
As I mentioned in another thread... one way to change the game's focus on encouraging focus fire might be to remove mitigation and replace it with a critical hit system. I finished that for my own mod and it makes capital ships feel quite substantial. (hit the shields, they're fine, hit the hull, they might have a critical problem).
That sounds like it would muck up the balance with shields and make it more valuable than it should be (and thus make advent more powerful).

Well after observing a bit more I think shield mitigation is the problem, especially for the main battleships of each race. These capital ships can often only focus its main guns on a single target and this easily maxes out the mitigation, making these ships weaker than they probably should be. So I think capital ships just need to contribute less to shield mitigation or simply ignore a fairly large portion of it.

It really doesn't make sense that they don't have to return to their hangar at any point. Requiring them to return would lend a little weight to strategic positioning of hangars and give some reason for not having your carriers hang out on the edge of gravity well (less time spent out of battle for your strike craft.) The logic behind this would be that the small size of a fighter/bomber simply cannot support the amount of ammunition/auto-repairing/fatigue experienced by the craft for extended
I believe that I was the one that made the claim about carriers being the only Cap class ships left in modern navies. I stand by that statement as it is correct. All else is support or limited to minor operations. Carriers began displacing Battleships during WWII due to the simple fact that planes offered more abilities and range than big guns. However, Battleships (in a sense anyway) are making a comeback now that the US has teched up to Railguns (200mi range and only $3000 a pop). US Na

I think they are about right. After thinking about it I realize this game actually has ship classifications that draw parallels to Star Wars (and I'm surprised people have been comparing them to modern navies instead of other sci-fi fleets.) Fighters are of course the dynamic little ships that the movies focused on (including the Millennium Falcon.) Frigates and Cruisers were basically everything else, with some of them being labeled as Capital Ships. A Super Star Destroyer would probably be
