I can't seem to get past the opening screen. I keep getting a CSV data missing error. Tried to reinstall and still have the problem. Update: Found the culprit! Bitdefender does not recognize the program for some reason. Had to manually allow application access to get around the issue. If you get this Issue, check your antivirus setting for application access settings. It may be getting detected as a hack attempt.

It's funny just how many of our thoughts I can trace back to at least half a dozen sci-fi shows and games I have seen over the years. That said, I like them all. Sadly I lack any real modding skills so this is what I would like to see created by another who would have them. (Unless they can make the mod engine completely idiot proof, then I might have a chance in hell at it [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] ) I would like to encounter something along the lines of a "no goo
I think a lot of you are missing the importance of the word "controversial" that I used in my first post. In this case I meant that people will typically feel very strongly either for or against this planet design, with little middle ground. That's not a good foundation to build a game upon. One doesn't have to please everyone, but this kind of controversy should be avoided where possible. The risk is that debates about the d
The goal is to bring Star Control up to the modern standards and give it a visual look that won't immediately look dated. Games that shoot for the goal of realism are the fastest to become visually dated and become more difficult to be played. Especially if revisited a couple of years later as the visual standard increases. Realistic styles are proven to look dated very quickly as the standards of what passes for realism increases on a we

1) I don't agree. I liked that the threat loomed over you throughout the game. You always knew there was a new threat beyond the Ur-Quan and the Zoq-Fot-Pik warned you of the Kor-Ah's impending victory. If you encountered one, you knew what their plan was. Without this, the game would have felt too easy and simple. Even ignoring all of that, only once did the Kor-Ah death march begin on my file and only because I let it happen so I could talk to the defeated Ur-

Interesting ideas here. I particularly like this one. I would force you to really think about what you are doing before you enter anyone's space with any other groups people in it. Racial reactions and relationships - For example, the Yehat and Pkunk. Arrive at the Yehat homeworld with Pkunk ships in your fleet? Maybe they won't sell you ships as they refuse to fly in the same fleet together. Maybe they won't talk to you at all. M

As long as the style is NOT like SC3. The music in that game was horrid. I still listen to SC2's music by itself in the car and am very much looking forward to hearing what they have in store for us in this one.
But I think it would be fine to be able to visually see the planets in such a way AFTER they have been scanned and explored and not before.
This I could get behind far easier. The images I think would also come off as funnier since we would constantly have that moment where we approach a colored ball in space then up close scanning cause that "what the heck?!" moment.

I have to say my feeling is torn at the moment. On one hand I agree that I immediately thought Spore the moment I saw the planet designs as they now stand. On the other I agree that SC2 and SC3 both were rather weak in the planets looks themselves and it could get tedious. Essentially making everything the same sphere with different color schemes. I think right now the problem for me is the scale. I look at these worlds and I think to myself that

Sry I'm a bit late to the party. My account and I were having an argument over the last Frungy match. :) One of my earliest memories (about 3 or 4 years old) is sitting on my dad's lap watching as he would play SC2 using those big 5 and 1/4 inch floppy disks on his 286 (later 386) computer with the giant map of hyperspace sprawled on the floor as we explored the galaxy together. He taught me how to read longitude and latitude and I would play his navigator for b
