Do not use the most recent one. It causes a conflict with DirectX that will keep you from being able to play the game. Use a version 6 or 7 and the game will run fine.

HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY I GOT IT TO WORK!!! YEE HAA!!! So I took Hallow Man's advice. I went into the driver properties and instead of rolling back, this time I told it to uninstall. Reboot. I then took the original Catalyst cd that came with my video card and loaded the drivers from there. That rolled the drivers back to version 6. I then started the game with the test build .exe file that support gave me and voila, it start right up i
If you're still getting test failures via dxdiag, then Sins (and most other games) won't run. For my friend it was a driver issue, and he eventually found one that did the trick. The key is to fix the test issues, and then the game will undoubtedly run. The hard part is figuring out why dxdiag tests are failing, and it may be the video driver. Do you have the driver disc that came with the video card? If so, try uninstalling the current driver, installing the one on the disc, the
Jeremy: Are you sure you rolled back to the XP ATI driver? You may have just reverted to an older driver you've installed.
It let me press the roll back button a couple of times before a help window with a trouble shooting guide popped up. It wouldn't let me do it again. But a couple of days ago after I posted this thread, I had completely uninstalled the video drivers and rebooted and let windows pick the drivers, but that didn't solve the problem either. Unfortunatl
I just reverted back to the ATI driver that comes with XP and it works now.
Well I tried this but it didn't work for me. (:( I'm out of ideas and at wits end. I guess I'll just chill and wait and let support do their thing.
I wonder if this is a directX problem. When I went into dxdiag and ran the test direct3d option, it failed. Not sure how to fix it though. On second though I wonder if this is a monitor issue?
Thanks for the idea. I just tested mine too and it also failed. The error I got was:
This test will use hardware-accelerated Direct3D 7 interfaces....Test failed at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
<br/

I heard again from technical support yesterday. They just asked me if my game was the DVD or a download. I bought the DVD at wal-mart. Yesterday, I tried uninstalling the game again, but this time I also uninstalled Catalyst and all ATI drivers. I then rebooted and let windows load the drivers for me rather than down loading them from ATI. Unfortunatly this didn't fix the problem, it did the exact same thing. Oh yeah, I have no intention of letting this thread die until thi
Radeon Mobility X800...which ran Beta 2 just fine .
Please report this info to support. If it ran Beta just fine that may be a key piece of info.
Should I email the support about this also? Or should we expect a fix for this shortly?
yes, definatly email support and remember to send them your dxdiag report and your latest minidump (but zip that one up). The more reports they get the easier it will probably be to find the common cause.
Same issue here with. Just reinstalled XP with latest drivers. Using a x800. I wonder if this is some issue with ATI cards? I switched from Vista to XP with Sins not running on both for different reasons.
Well SurHa has an Nvidia and I read a couple of similar threads where Nvidia people were having similar issues. But ATI seems to be the trend on the Forums.

The game won't start for me. When I try to start it, it starts loading then breaks out of full screen mode into a window mode, but the window is just black with nothing in it. The window acts as if its not responding, but under task manager it says it is running. I then have to use task manager to quite the game and which point it generates a dump file. I tried altering the user settings to turn off the intro movie and to try to launch it in window mode. This resulted in the game
