I think I know what the real problem is. I can not get the game or my pc to allow changes to the user setting. Forgetting the mods for a second, if I go into the vanilla trilogy game and adjust graphical effects from highest (which is set to default for me) to low or any other setting and hit "apply" and close the game, restart it...that change was not saved at all. It goes right back to the default. So it has to be something with the user. I have 64 bit windows 7 and I lowered the UA

So any idea on what files I need to make sure are not read only to make sure the mods work with the game? From what I've read if you have a blue rectangle in the read only checkbox under properties it doesn't mean it is read only it only means that windows ignores if it is or is not.
Quoting Sothron, reply 2actually when I run it through the dev .exe it gives those same errors every time so it didn't just happen once and then go away. I also notice when I minidump out and go back in with a mod enabled when I check the game it goes straight back to vanilla and I have to reenable the mod again. I have no idea if this is related to your problem or not, but it sounds like the game for

Yes, my system is superior to yours with no offense intended. It is a better processor, double the ram and a better video card. It also is 64 bit windows 7. And yes, I can change the settings from "highest detail" to "low" and any point inbetween and it still gives the mini dump. I just played a bit on a vanilla huge map and everything was fine on highest detail. I enable both mods and within two minutes both mini dump out on low settings. It is simply frustrating.

Let me start by the following: thank you in advance for any help. I also have to point out that I know official support from stardock does not cover mods. The game seems to run fine with any graphical settings range from low to highest in the vanilla trilogy mode. The problems I am having are making two mods work with the game. I had zero problems with them on my old nvida 8800 gtx duo core 2.13 ghz 32 vista system. But now on my new system which does have current drivers so no need t

It is Elemental's responsibility to ensure save game compatibility between versions after release. It isn't the players responsibility to go and search forums for whether a patch will break save games. Unless told otherwise it is perfectly reasonable to assume that patches are improvements to the game, and something whic

Oh, I agree with that. And if this had been the first occurrence, I would have no problem with your frustration. But, the fact that you had a problem by following a certain set of steps... and then followed the same set of steps not 12 hours later without reading the forums

Releasing a game that within four days makes previous saves unplayable is most definitely deserving of criticism. Calling people who disagree with you "fanboys" is childish. The retail release of Elemental warrants some criticism. Devs working around the clock to deliver multiple mea
It's not exactly unheard of for patches to render saves from previous game versions unplayable. On top of that, Sothron, you had ALREADY had an issue when you updated from 1.05 to 1.06 and you just blithely updated again without checking for possible problems? Almost seems like you're asking for trouble at that point. Like the child with the stove... you'd think he'd learn after the first time getting burned?[/quot

Scratch my previous joyous post. Now my previous saves are invalid because it simply won't load them. Wow. I didn't see a warning before I updated that it would invalidate my previous saves. It wasn't until I came back to this thread that I saw it has been disabled. I can't believe this game has been released and you as a customer have ZERO faith that anything you save will actually still be playable a day later. Should we gamers just give this game a month off to see if it is patched correct

This is very frustrating. I can't move units on the map, no spells cast on the map will work and to top it off even the "end turn" button is greyed out and won't respond. I hope someone at Stardock sees this and does something to fix it. I'd hate to lose a 400+ turn game because the new patch won't work with it.

I try to cast the spell and nothing works. I have the 10 mana and my guy can be either in or out of the city and it doesn't work. All I get is the red square when I hover it over a city or move it around the city area on the map trying to find a "green" spot where it will work. Am I doing something wrong?

Like someone mentioned, there's a research path in the adventure tree that unlocks new resources. I believe the third in that tree unlocks food resources. Once you do that, and once you start building things like irrigation and other food bonuses, you'll have TONS of food. I've never been limited in how much I can grow any of m
