I noticed that they replaced that with "Fleets" as well. It's annoying. The "Fleets" thingamajig isn't as refined or streamlined as the Control Groups, and control groups no longer show up on the empire tree, even when you attempt to pin them. I can create and select control groups, but unless I remember that I have done so, and know how to do so again, it's as if they never existed. I also noticed other problems with the grouping as well. Ships seem to have trouble with orders if they'

Frogboy, you said that the Download only Collector's edition was $44.95. However, I bought Sins of a Solar Empire with the CD for $44.95(without $5 S/H) in July of 07, before there was such a Collector's Editions. From what has been indicated, the "Direct Buy" from this site, using the preorder, gives the Collector's Edition. So, even though I ordered before such distinctions came about, and I ordered the CD & Download directly from Stardock, it does mean I got the Collector's Edition,

I have a question. The "Gold Edition", is it the same as the Collector's Edition? Another thing, the Collector's Edition is the Direct Buy from Stardock with the CD as well as download, correct? So, if I were to have pre-ordered the Sins of a Solar Empire CD/Download Package in mid-July of 2007, which cost me $44.95 + $5.00 for shipping, is that still the same as the "Collector's Edition", before such 'edition' distinctions came about? If I'm not being clear a

If my memory serves me well, green stars are real, but are extremely poor for supporting life. The conditions are very unlikely.

Perfect, thanks. Edit: I've compressed both the STATS file and the SAVE file, and sent them to the aforementioned address. I can only hope I didn't screw anything up, and hope you get the files to see if there is a bug. Thanks Blair Fraser, and Multi.

I checked how many credits the other factions had spent on research, and did some math. The highest one was below the level you'd need to get to the last tier. However, you wouldn't have to spend any credits, since Insurgency isn't linked to anything. I doubt any faction would refrain from doing so. Also, all of the factions did not possess enough planets and asteroids to have enough logistical slots to research Insurgency. Taking into account the possibility of them devoting all slots

It was a large map, with five galaxies, all players. I was currently facilitating the downfall of two empires in a star system connected to mine, and mine only. The first thing I did, of course, was set up a foothold, the pirate base. Two birds with one stone. Get rid of the annoying pirates, who would be going after my bounty-wearing head, and gain a defensible foothold. Unfortunately, no. I had controlled the pirate base for ten minutes, colonized it, developed it, stationed ships and

Strategy in the sense that, when in the creature designer, you need to take in the concept of natural selection, and make it so that your creature "evolves" into a smart form that won't die out because of inefficiency or any other fatal flaws. You also have to compete with other races, and strategise how to take over the world. Then you need to move on to space colonization, and do that as well. There are elements of strategy, but more in the sense of the Civilization series,

I think the main appeal of Spore is the entirely user-created content, the infinite replayability, the almost infinite customization, and the procedural programming. The procedural programming is the best part. For those who don't know, procedural programming in a nutshell is that it defines the relationship between two or more types of objects, instead of cause/trigger or event/trigger. Great stuff. It's such a different genre than Sins, but going to be amazing. It will de

This is some of the best news I've heard about Spore for some time. In an interview with the brain behind it all, Will Wright, he said that they were planning to release it in April 08, and that if it got behind schedule, even then, it wouldn't be that far behind. Definitely not after April. Apparently we'll get it before April, or during. I am pleased. The system specs aren't too demanding, but it is a newer game. I can't wait to test out how well they've applied the procedural

In my opinion, regarding the quick jaunt down the road of progress towards self-sustaining artificial intelligence, it will happen eventually, if our civilization continues to progress (and that is a shifty future). The question that must be asked, is if we will treat these sentient machines as equals, or as slaves. For if they can learn, they have free will, or will develop it, and will develop the same ideals many of us hold today: freedom, equality, democracy, and unalienable rights. In a mor

I'm not entirely sure if this is a flaw with the beta, or with my mouse. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare mouse to interchange and test. I have a Logitech Mouseware 9.76 Optical Mouse, as far as I can gather from the product papers I still have. Anyway, I have tested it many times by pressing firmly and squarely on the close button in the research or diplomacy screen and it has failed multiple times. Has anyone else experienced the same problem, for I am still unsu
