http://www.lostcosmonauts.com This is one of the more entertaining conspiracy theories. It says that the Russians had quite a few failed space flights, and that Gagarin wasn't actually the first person to come back from space alive. There's been a PBS documentry on this topic, it presented the information like it was the undisputed truth. Like I said, it's entertaining. One time I did a presentation on the history of space flight for a high school class. I brought this up

Casual user? Come on, I'm doing this on a friday night!
I generally only rate things that are right on the edge or being displayed or hidden. When I see mediocre things that at least deserve some exposure, I'll make sure they're getting a 3 or more. The same idea goes the opposite way for crap and rips. I don't see much point in reinforcing a high rating, a user will usually make his or her own opinion before taking a rating into account.
http://www.dbpoweramp.com This program does that and a million other things.
16) or so... There is no longer a community. Since everyone's grouchy, we're calling it a "scene". All members of the secne are expected to pick up on this and use it as if it was always that way.
Bellingham, WA, USA. Between Vancouver and Seattle, but closer to Vancouver. If my parents would only move out of town it would be quite a nice place.
I feel that the art of skinning is in the balance between functionality and aesthetics. It can't be too much of either, or else the skin is unusable or boring (with a few exceptions). Details like the window buttons are the artist's choice. It's fine with me if you don't like it, I actually share your opinion. I just don't like to see someone's choice denounced as flat out wrong and immature. It's just a different style that some don't like, not a universal evil.
It looks like we’re stuck. Here’s a thought: I spend quite a bit of time at a discussion site called kuro5hin.org. Over just a few months I have seen several people bring issues like this to the attention of the public and receive some great results. It seems that intellectual property is a commonly misinterpreted concept that needs to be addressed. If one of the more talented writers in our community could produce an article detailing IP and how it applies to skinning, it could be poste
I guess we're both strange, because most of this makes perfect sense to me. Entertain a bizarre theory: the mind more or less makes sense, but the body produces those lovely hormones for us, that's where things go bad. We're all walking around half drunk on hormones, being guided by a mix of reason and emotion. Certain things can throw off the balance of the two. For example, I present myself with two thoughts: Breasts, chocolate. All of a sudden I abandon a promising thought and wheeeew.
Well dang, I guess we'll have to do the usual. I'll setup up the gallows...
I had these same thoughts last night. I'm making the skinning community a big part of my life and having fun too. I'll be happy if things stay the same for a while; what we have now is enjoyable. All of the nasty community issue threads lately don't exist because the situation is bad, they exist because people honestly care about what happens and want to see the community imporve. If you ever get sick of it all, just remember that it's because people feel passionately, there is some
This person seems like he is trying to do good, but just doesn't know the rules. Anybody ripping with malicious intent probably wouldn't give credit at all. I think he just needs a polite note explaining our ethics rather than the usual public bashing.
There's never been a better time for something like this to exist. Seeing that green version of deskmod brought back so many memories. That's where it all started for me, I'm glad I got to see it one last time.
I had a great time at LOS, I'll miss the place for quite a while. Thanks to everyone there for making such a great community, You've all helped set a new standard. See ya around.
Allright everyone, back to the top. Read Gorman's post again. If you honestly feel like fighting after that you can be my guest. I, however, am going off to enjoy myself while making another skin.
If you really don't like the mac style, make something you do like it and try to disrupt the trend. An influential icon set can change the scene far more than just talking about it.
The old skins for K-jofol were always my favorites. Roman and Vendicator, among others, had some of the most original skins anywhere. They always went as freeform as they could and never seemed to rehash an idea and try to use it over again in their next skin. It's this kind of imagination that I appreciate the most of all, and is the number one influence in anything that I make.
He did the same thing to my coolplayer skin, Frond. It was pretty bad, too. Once I replied he came back to dis on it some more. Still, whenever I checked my skin stats, I honestly hoped there wouldn't be any more comments on any of my skins, I didn't want to take the chance of being put down again. -oinky
