Thank you kryo. That is all I needed and that's what I get for prefering to just work with the game instead of reading any manuals! Now back to exploring my new toy! (I see people post high scores so I'll have to work on a worthwhile posting! Thanks again.

Iztok, it doesn't matter what my zoom level is. Zoom level was the first thing I tried. The ships, planets, asteroids, etc. remain in their small, phantom form. gminisama, you say Press 1 but you don't tell me where I should be when I press it. I assumed the normal playing screen so I tried it there. It looks like the map shifts but the object icons remain the same. Thanks both for your response but the issue has not been resolved.
I just bought the Gold Edition GalCiv II game and it ran fine for a couple days but then suddenly I lost specific graphics within the game. For example, ships became simple configurations of small circles instead of beautiful ships. I'm running an XP home edition on a newer Athlone processor. I have only a half gig of RAM (I've been broke! This game was my first splurge in months!) If this occurred on my initial startup I would think I have insufficient system or video capabilities
