I haven't tried this myself, but I see according the the WineHQ page for GalCiv 2 there appear to be varying levels of success from version to version. Here's the page: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3081 Hopefully that gives you some help, but I don't know what to tell you to do. Maybe somebody else will know better. You could try a GalCiv forum or an ubuntu forum. I find the folks over at ubuntuforums.org to be really helpful. Go

Many of the above suggestions are good, but I'll add one more. Have you tried Homeworld (theres Homeworld 1, 2, and Homeworld: Cataclysm)? I'd recommend starting with the first game, but I never actually thought the story was that great so you can take your pick. They are RTS titles. I don't know if they meet your requirement of "complex," but I certainly found them challenging and fun. They are relatively old so they should be pretty darn inexpensive if you find them. Oh and Phalnax8
Hard to believe nobody's posted this yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4MqTCIDKhU&feature=related It's from the movie called "The Wicker Man"
I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts... 220 to be exact.
Sins is a fun game, but it can require a time commitment. I'd advise you not to play any Galactic Civilzations games if Sins can't keep your attention for more than 3 hours. I've been playing the same "normal" sized map with 5 AI's for close to 8 hours and most of the AI's are still around (I'm trying to go for a peaceful victory condition). :) I've never played Plants vs. Zombies. Popcap has somewhat of a reputation for making addictive games, but I've never been able to bring myself
I may be in the vast minority here, but I would be happy if more people running video game companies were more like Frogboy. Sure he may occassionally come off as rude, but I find that the level of feedback given to the customers (all of us on the forum) to be exceptional. I'm sure many people on this forum have been seriously burned by game companies that release a broken product and never even acknowledge the problems exist let alone actually fix them. I find much comfort in the fact that i
A jump drive can be equipped on all ships except maybe some of the smallest fighters. It uses up energy cells which you have to get from a solar power plant. The farther you want to jump the more energy cells are required and the larger the ship the more energy cells are required also. It allows you to travel from any place in the universe to any jumpgate you've already discovered instantaneously.
I have a similar situation to the OP. I was trying to play a LAN game over a wireless network and was having no luck. I tried simply running a cable between the PC's (through my router) and all was well. LAN games run great now. If you're on a wireless network, try using a cable instead. I'm not sure why it worked for me, but it did.
Am I the only one who thinks this thread has gotten more than a little ridiculous? Hell, I don't even care about the discussion any more. This thread is completely hilarious in how far off track it is. It's nearly as entertaining as Demigod itself. Seriously, this thread should be some kind of psychiatric case study about how people interact online compared to in real life. :)
There are many different corvettes, frigates (only in Terran Conflict not Reunion), carriers, and destroyers available in X3 as well as transport vessels and fighters. They cost a fortune to buy in the game (upwards of 100 million credits to buy a destroyer and outfit with proper equipment), but X3 is a game that focuses on long term goals. Don't buy this game an expect to fly a destroyer your first day (or maybe your first week or more) without cheats. Patience and the ability to make your o
Wow has this thread seriously gone off track or what? People pirated the game. In a perfect world that would never happen, but there isn't really anything that can be done to stop piracy as it stands right now (doubly so since this particular act of piracy occured in the past). These threads with people proclaiming that they pirated the game are sort of pointless and could probably be locked/deleted with little consequence. Also some users on this forum could realize that there is nothing to
Well, the good news is I don't think the pantheon will last the rest of this week at the rate it's going and you'll be able to change sides after that. Also, you can pick any demigod you want in the skirmish and custom games online. Not to mention the singleplayer. ...but yeah the game should give (at least new players) a warning before picking a demigod for the pantheon... As far as the "excellent connectivity" is concerned, look at Frogboys latest post in the journal section
Always good to hear from people at the top. Although I am one of the lucky ones in North America who has relatively few connection problems, I still await this weeks updates with bated breath and high hopes of resolving these technical issues.
I'm pretty sure your favor points are seperate values between single player and multiplayer. It should only vary between single and multi. It should stay the same for each demigod and each game mode. If I understand it correctly.
^^ @Maxxiipads: Wow uhmm... when's the last time you took a deep breath? I'm not sure how much help you are going to get on this forum as far as account and email issues. Sounds to me like you should be talking directly to Stardock support. I've never had to mess with the email account merging scheme they've got going so I don't know how much I can help. I do hope you calm down and get all of your demigod issues resolved. Maybe somebody will come along and have more information.
I anticipate no problems concerning your hardware. Your CPU isn't that much slower than mine (Athlon X2 7750) and your video card is very similar to mine also (9600GT). I can run the game nearly at max settings (though I turn AA off and shadows to medium so I'm sure I'm not causing problems with other people online). I'd say your probably good to go :)
Not to sound like a jerk, but maybe you could give it the rest of the week at least and see if the multiplayer issues are fixed. Play some single player and figure out your favorite demigod. Come up with some interesting builds and discuss them on the forums. Give it some time and if you and Stardock have not resolved your issues with the game, then please feel free to request a refund. I'm not trying to make excuses for Stardock, but I have a hard time remembering a popular online game that
My favorite is "was that 5 bolts or 6?". Nearly fell out of my chair first time I heard that. I wish the game had a few more "tongue-in-cheek" momements like that.
1.00.0091 is the version I have and I believe I'm up to date. I understand your frustrated, but maybe you should wait until tomorrow to get worked up about flaws in the system. The game was never intended to be released until tomorrow anyway. I have little previous experience with Impulse games (I own Sins of a Solar Empire and Gal Civ II, but I only ever used Impulse to apply patches) and I've never participated in any of the betas. Maybe you know something I don't, but I'd say just chill ou
I have no idea about the skirmish games. I do have trouble getting into the pantheon however... I assume the servers or whatever are not completely set up and/or are simply being overloaded. Hopefully it will be better by tonight or tomorrow.
I've got an Athlon X2 7750, 4GB of RAM and an Nvidia 9600GT and I can run the original Supreme Commander at nearly full settings with extra visual goodies like AA and AF on at 1680x1050 resolution. If your computer is more powerful than mine, you should have zero worries. If your is less powerful than mine, I couldn't give you any ideas about performance without some details about your computer. Though I see somebody already posted that they could play the Demigod beta on an 8600gt wi
More than likely, you're fine. The 3450 is currently considered an low-end card, but Demigod should run on it. I wouldn't bet on high settings or anything, but the game should work at lower settings. The rest of your system is better than mine and I'm expecting to be able to run the game at nearly full settings on my Nvidia 9600GT. Supposedly the game's performance is similar to another GPG game called Supreme Commander. I don't know if you've ever played that game before, but maybe y
I'm no Demigod developer, but I have to guess that it would not work. The 9700 Pro is a few generations behind the recommended video card specs and I believe it does not have SM3 support which, I believe, is required to run the game if my memory serves right. Sorry, but I wouldn't bet on it. Hopefully I'm wrong...
I have to say, having this feature really helps seal the deal in my book. Games that don't allow LAN play with only one serial tend to piss me off (I'm looking at you DoW 2!).
