Tried the new beta 2 and did see about 4 fps increase. But like Cari said, it's really isn't bad at all below 30 fps. Also, those weird minimap lines at 300 zoom are gone. Thanks for the continued support and feedback. You might have different and or other issues. With this new beta, my frame rate went from 10 FPS back to 75 FPS. Just a thought.

1.6 DA beta 2 fixes the issue!!!! Thank you so very much. Now I can play the game again. Everyone who has this problem--search the form for the beta, download and enjoy. Thanks again CariElf for the hard work!
Sounds good Cari, Thanks again for the help and the update. I'll keep checking daily. Please let me know if I can help test in any way.
Thanks guys for confirming this as well. I have the 158.18 drivers and I have literally done everything that I can on my end. The only other thing that I can think might be having an effect is that my mouse is not fully compatible with Vista. That might explain my mouse rotate/zoom. However, the keyboard is giving my 16 FPS when I do those functions and I don't think that is caused by anything other than video. Long story short, I will replace my mouse when my keyboard works at 75 F
Thanks again for trying a new test, but it didn't work either. Same performance, same issue. I started a new game to try it out, but it didn't change anything. To be a little clearer about exactly the situation that I am having incase it helps: My normal FPS sits at a constant 75 no matter what I do(with the minimap minimized). With the infobar not minimized: If I use the keyboard to scroll, 10 FPS is the max. If I use the keyboard to rotate/zoom, 16 FPS is t
Well, I know that we all really appreciate your effort. Keep up the good work and thanks for those who also replied and confirmed that this didn't help so that I know that I am not the only one. One more quick question. Can you perhaps create a patch the completely blanks out the minimap from the bottom information? This will be a quick fix to solve the problem in the mean time while you work to rewrite the full minimap code. I don't know anything about programming and I really don'
Unfortunately, the fix did nothing for my problem. The condition remains the same and goes away when I minimize the lower displays. Perhaps the minimap is still causing most of the problem and the slow performance won't go away until all of the pieces are fixed. I hope this feedback helps. Someone else please reply and confirm this. If this fixes the problem for other, maybe my issue is broader. However, I'm still thinking it's minimap related. Thank you again for your support. I will co
Yep, Me too...I just hope they fix it soon because I just have Vista loaded and so I can't switch back and forth. I have to wait it out...and that sucks
Kryo, I appreciate your response. Thank you very much. As long as it has been confirmed that it is a driver issue and they are working on it, I can wait. I was just a bit frustrated when I heard that Cari was waiting to hear from nvidia and that they didn't even mention it in their driver release notes, much less fix it with the release. I'll keep waiting on it, and again I thank you for your response.
It might also be worth noting that to my knowledge, GalCiv2/DA did not even appear in the list of fixed or non-fixed issues in the driver release. I know that I reported the bug myself. Perhaps there has not been enough push on this one.
Has anyone figured this out? The new nvidia drivers (158 release) did not solve the problem? I am soo upset with this one!
Well, that's just great. I downloaded the 158 drivers from nvidia and they did not fix the problem. Now what are we all supposed to do. Playing the game with the minimap minimized is stupid. You can't do it and really get the information you need. Switching back and forth is also stupid because it's clunky. Thus, I am stuck playing a choppy game that is extremely annoying to navigate through. This is really too bad, as I REALLY like this game. But what the hell am I suppos
Well, in the meantime are you hiding the minimap? I am still waiting for word from my contact at NVidia. Yes and it is working but it is annoying as you can guess. Whenever you hear anything from NVidia, please post it. I check daily and would love to know what the prognosis is. I have to imagine they can fix it or provide you with info on a patch for the game as a work around. I have noticed other threads on this forum as well devoted t
...sorry clicked twice
I have the same problem and it is really chapping me. My machine is similar to the configs above, AMD, nvidia, vista 64 bit. Has anyone found a fix yet (besides minimizing the minimap)? What's the status?
I am having the exact same problem but no one has been able to offer me any help. I had no problems at all under windows xp sp2. Then I upgraded to vista 64 bit and this happened. I noticed the same thing with the minimap and controlls minimized...the problem goes away. But that is really annoying. My system is as follows AMD Athlon 4400+ Duel Core 1 GB RAM nVidia 7800 GT (101.41 beta drivers for vista 64 bit) Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS gamer nvidia nforce 4 MB <b
I am so dissapointed. I just tried the beta 1.6 release for DA and it did not fix my video issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution in sight or does it all hinge on nvidia and their drivers? Man do I wish I had an ATI right now but that won't happen. Updates please!
Well, I just updated the newest DA and it did not fix my scrolling, zooming, rotating lag issue. I really hope that 1.6 or a new nvidia driver will fix this problem. It is very difficult to play with this issue and a progress update would be greatly appreciated. I SOOOO regret upgrading to vista. I knew better and now I am paying the price.
Has there been any progress on solving the extremely slow scrolling issue that I posted about earlier?
OK, Interestingly enough, the suggestion that Cari had about "does it help if you hit the little button that hides the minimap + context area" was spot on, and the scrolling, rotating and zooming are smooth as silk again (when the context area is hidden). I am happy about that because I can play it again (with a slit amount of hastle). I am also happy that this is a known issue. I guess I will keep waiting and checking here for any info. Thank you very much for your help kryo and Ca
OK, I am having the same sort of problem. I was running the game smooth as silk with all of the settings turned to max under Windows XP Pro. I just upgraded (actually did a clean install) to Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit and now the scrolling, rotating and zooming are extremely choppy. In fact it does not update the screen until I stop moving the mouse, and then it just lurches to where it should be. Also, if I hold down the keyboard key and scroll in any direction, it doesn't u
