Disappointed that this game doesn't at least have a tiny community remaining to generate new stuff. But then I guess it never really did have that many variables to play with to make things interesting with mods, unless you're good at telling really short stories.

If I were to submit any new additions to the library, would they ever get posted or is this a waste of time?
Well gee don't get too offended if nobody responds, because this forum is pretty much dead.
I don't play it anymore, although it sounds kind of good sometimes. I don't have Alterian prophecy either, I just use the one I got for free. :P BAM! Posted within a day, too! W00t!
> How can I get out of this? Quit cheating, that's how. If you didn't cheat, it wouldn't be a problem. :P Its all about how bytes work. If you have 4 bytes to store the amount of money you have, 4 bytes can house any number between 0 and 4,294,967,295. If you want negative numbers, then it houses any number from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,648. Once you breach the 2,147,483,648 point, it starts going into negative numbers. So basically, you're not supposed to have that much mon
I think if you think its too easy you can turn it off. I usually play with only conquest or alliance victories on (so if I don't feel like conquering my friends I can just ally with them). Influence victories are pointless anyways, since if you have enough influence the other empire's systems will rebel and join you anyway. Even in technological victories, you still have to keep the other empires off you long enough to let you research your way to the final frontier. And if you focus al
The only other mods I can find, the on-map ships aren't anti-aliased, so they're no help at all. However, their build screen pictures look fine, which I can't figure out... And as far as I can tell, both of those forums are just as dead as this one is. [Message Edited]
Further annoyances. I built my first ship model and called it Ship65, and as far as the sprite editor is concerned, everything looks fine. However, when I use the ship in the game, the build icon apparently loses its anti-aliased edges and becomes a typical 256-color image. And on the map view, the ships' edges get funky color distortions around the edges, especially when moving over nebulas and such. I'm thinking it has something to do with the palette, but I really have no idea how to
I went through all the trouble of making a nice animated MDL of a ship floating around in space, 100 frames of it, and named it anomaly99, etc... Anyway, created an anomaly file and set its model to "99" and removed all the other anomolies in the game, then started a fresh map... and it crashes. Boo. Either I'm doing something wrong or this game's wonderful mod support isn't so wonderful after all. Any suggestions? (Oh, and it doesn't crash unless the model is set to "99".) File Name:<b
Well, when I started playing a week or two ago, I just started from the dumbest AI and when I whooped them all, I moved up to the next AI. I'm currently on "bright", and have beaten them once and lost once. So that's about where its competetive for me. I almost lost once on normal, but my ally saved the day. :)
I would but GalCiv1 was free for me and GalCiv2 is not. :P (Metaverse doesn't like me either.)
Well, that's a pretty broad question. I'm pretty new to this game but here's what I know so far: There are several different things you can change/create. As for new additions to the existing game, you can create new Events, Anomolies, United Planet Issues, Polotical Parties, Technoligies, Ships, Starbase Modules, Buildings, Resources and so on. You can also modify the graphics, but it takes a LOT more work, and you'll need some tools. You can visit NeoTech gaming's download site and, U
I downloaded mine from the same site, but I still can't get it to work. Under "List Files From:", only /GFX and /MOVIES are checkable. The other four are grayed out. And if I try to edit anything, I'm the editor windows are still blank with all the toolbar stuff grayed out except "Exit". I'm hoping this editor doesn't require Alterian Prophecy installed in order to work...
Its very lonely around here...
This is the only version of GalCiv Writer that I can find, since all the other links to it are dead, except for a really old beta that only did events and UP issues. The trouble with this latest one is that it doesn't seem to be working! It starts up fine, but it doesn't list any files. It locates all the directories and says it listing them, but there are no files displayed. When I try to run any of the editors, they're all blank, and if I try to use any tools, I get this error: Excep
