the races are balanced, just in different ways, like the korx for example, get a PQ 10 and a PQ 8 planet, and fair bonuses, whereas say the iconians, get a PQ14 planet, lots of techs, but no bonuses, see what i mean? I think the only thing I can justify as balanced about the races is the homeworld planet. Some races have bigger homeplanets, but
One thing worth mentioning is about that is some races, although they do get bigger home planets, sacrifice the second smaller one that the other races get and for some games that can make it actually worse, like if there isn't a lot of habitable planets around. If there were and they were close to your starting point, I would definitely take the bigger planet but in the long run, sometimes having the medium and small is better just because after terraforming or ethics (for neutrals) that class
I did not realize that some civs got bigger homeworlds, that adds something. Guess I need to change up my playing style and actually try all the races before I judge them lol. In terms of defense, it's expensive but it can be worth it when you create a fleet that becomes virtually invinceable due to leveling I mean defense on small ships or even mediums isn't really worth it imo, but large and huge definitely can make use out of it. I have not tried making ships that have little hp with lots of
Also, with being good. I guess this strat does affect those who want to be "good" at every situation for the fantasy element but: when I'm going for good, along the way I just choose good if choosing evil wouldn't help me a whole lot like getting a few hundred bc's or a little extra starship hp. if you do this a few times, it will let you choose evil for good things like research / production once or twice and your ethical allignment will still lean towards good so you wont have to pay for it wh
For example (and if I remember correctly), when you go to modify the terrans, you start having 3 points left over. If you clear those points now you have 10 and the terran built-in bonuses (diplomacy, etc). You lose the diplomancy bonus if you spend points on diplomancy. The original bonus will be replaced with whatever diplomacy bonus you just selected. You also lose the
For me I play good if I want to play a game without much war and especially if I don't want the military conquest but rather a political or possibly influence victory. Being good if there are other good races, as long as you don't let your military get down to below 50 or so you can easily keep the peace and build your economy / diplomacy / influence pretty easily. With the enhanced diplomacy it's easy to be ahead of the research (you research non combat things and basically mine your opponents
I just noticed that with certain races, you can reset their points when choosing their abilities and they h otkeep some of them whereas with others, they start from scratch. Example, with the Drath, you reset their points and they still get 25 military production, 50 espionage, 25 diplomacy and you get 10 more points to spend on top. With the korx, you get their 25 miniturzation (cant spell) and 100 loyality. with a lot of other races, all you get is 10 points and nothing else. Am I missing some
I've been doing random everything maps just for fun recently and I got put on a gigantic map with almost no habitable planets / lack of stars / tight clusters. It played so much different because people only had a few planets colonized and we were so far apart. I think I did the military conquest just because alliance / tech would've been too easy and cultural virtually impossible (without a hundred starbases). I started off even further away from the other players so they pretty much left me al
Playing on the challenging difficulty, I had 2 races left to defeat. The altarians had 3 planets left and I was at peace with them so I tried to sneak in a few fleets and transports to each of their planets so I could take them out suprisingly in one turn and then! (the point of this post which is one of the little gems of this game): the Altarian ambassador comes up on my screen with a lengthy speech about how he knows what I'm doing but unfortunately for him the difficulty is only "challenging
