I want to deploy WMDs in this game as well...but... How would sending ships into a star destroy it? The number of ships wouldnt do anything, they would need some special ability to disrupt the core process or something.

I really don't see how you can have impassable borders in an immense 3-D space. Chokepoints are usually caused by the inability of a unit/supply route to negotiate the terrain. Space ships should be able to go wherever they phyiscally can. If the "locals" don't like your there, they can tell you about it. Then, you decide if mov
I wish minor races did more as well. First of all, I think there should be more of them and make more intelligent decisions. Second, I think minor races should be partially subservient to the major race in which the planet resides. In other words, if a minor race is under your influence, you should be able to have some sort of control over policy. (Isn't this the point of "influence?") Perhaps we should be able to establish their
The arena may not be 2-d, but you can still have "borders" based on enemy ship detection systems. If ships enter a region close to the planet then they will be detected and war will be declared.
I like the idea of borders. It seems ridiculous now that 50 ships can just sit next to a planet. Like a previous person said however, the closed borders would limit mobility around the maps. I think a better idea would be to have closed borders strickly around planets and stations. (This would be plausible as the planets have defense forces that would detect ships) There should be a money slider that can increase the radius of the border ar
