Thank you all for your replies. It is indeed how I thought it would work. Going back to research now then. Thanks.

Hi, I have a question that bugged me for a while now. If I trade techs to get "Advanced Logistics" and not have "Enhanced Logistics" will I have less logistics points that a civilization which has both? There are few techs that add % or number to something ever time you research them. Can you skip some of the intermediate step and get only the last one, or do you have to research all of them? the question is simple for weapons or defense for example. If somebody is se
Hmm, I just realised not only the starbases are gone, but there are no ships in the game...Everybody's military rating plunged to 0.
Hi, I am playing the latest 1.1, and never seen this bug on any version I played on before, not even the betas. I quick-saved my current game (metaverse, so no mods, medium, painfull all, occasional everything), and had 2 mining starbases, the AI had one I was aware of, and now when I loaded it, they are all gone! The resources are there but no mining starbases. Sure now I am building fast constructors to take them but.... So yeah, bug. However maybe it is worth
Oh oh! I second that too! I have to actually try to hard compare the images and trying hard to remember what was originally that weapon/engine/armor. Especially when upgrading, tooltips for the existing components would be magic. I have been looking for this for a while now. And yes I like to keep the existing components, I don't know why the default option is to clear them. After all upgrade is upgrade not design from scratch.
Hi, also I would like to know tthat if a ship is damaged, the only requirment for it to repair is not to move it right? As it repairs a bit of HP each turn. But it won't repair if I move the ship? Also are ships supposed to repair faster while on a planet? Thanks in advance.
Hi, Just figured out how to make it work. Use Stardock Central but only download the non-beta version of the game. That will be ok. Then after you have it all, and make sure it runs fine (and activate it). Update it to he latest beta. And it's all ok. It seems like it does not want to get the latest beta if you don't have anything. Hope that helps.
Heya, I am having a similar problem. Do you get an error of kind: "Url not found"? Same as you I can get GalCiv and Altarian but not GalCiv2. In order to get GalCiv2 I realised that I can get further if I don't get the latest version (1.1 Beta) but 1.0X. To do this I modified the setting in the Stardock central that says show Beta version of programs. I would still like to know what is happening. And if anyone else has this probl
Hi, Another comment, this time about the Terror Star. I think it could be a very cool idea. And yes it must be expensive, and take a long time to build, and then expensive to maintain. Because otherwise it will imabalance the game too much. What I don't agree with it is the Evil Races +25% HP. That definitely imbalances the game, since I believe the Terror Star will aready have a lot of HP. And 25% of a LOT is A LOT MORE, making i
Hi, One comment about the Border Techs. I don't think that can work so well. It limits the player way too much in not being able to move on the map which is not fun. Limitation is never a good thing. What we could have instead is a sysyem similar to Civilisation's system, where you could not bring your ships too close to inhabited systems of another civilisation. Unless you are at war or an ally. However with good engines, that is not a prob
Hi, is it true that trade routes help with increasing the stading you have with an AI in diplomatic terms? I mean with time if you have 2,3 or 4 trade routes opened with a race, will your standing with them increase faster? Is it a good idea to use trade routes as a diplomatic means? Thanks.
Hi I can try to answer 3. >> 3) Too difficult to get an alliance - I've never got one! That is not true. In fact getting alliances is quite easy if you do the right thing. What you have to do is to keep on the good side with the races that you want to ally, give them a present here, a present there. And also have trade routes with them, like 3 trade routes with each race will probably do. With time the relations will ge
I wuold also go with the Traditional way. Either download only or buy the CD. To echo what other people said here, the Alternative way means I have to pay again for the game that I already payed once. I own GalCiv and it's expansion pack, and GalCiv2 and most probably get the GalCiv2 Exp Pack. But please do not makes us pay the same sum again, for the same game.
