The system reboot crash is often caused by errors in your RAM on programs that eat a lot of ram (like this one). It often masquerades as any number of different software issues but leaves no distinct trail in the debug files. If you recently bought and installed new ram then this could be your problem. If you didn't buy new ram, its still possible your original ram has errors in it and they just never surfaced until GalCiv2 started stressing it. If the latest version doesn't fix your

In your case of increasing production by depopulating a planet, I suppose that was some kind of collateral effect. As population grows, they will become unhappy and if hapiness levels fall too low you it may affect production and research as well. you got it backwards. Depopulating the planet in
I posted something in another thread thinking it was true and a few told me it was BS. I was wondering about the real story. I said: Increasing population has benefits like increased industrial capacity, increased economy and increased research (or something near to that) and they said: population doesn't do a thing to industrial capacity or research (or something to that effect) So, I'm wondering what's true
High population, high approval through entertainment and as high of a tax rate as you can manage without cutting your population growth rate too much. This is my usual formula. Only Once you have many people on a world, use economic buildings to amp the benefits...especially stock exchanges (since they benefit morale like entertainment does). Its crucial to keep them entertained too, otherwise you'll have poor growth rates and you won't be a
yep. I've beaten a few games that way, but I've also ended up getting killed by not advancing my fleets early enough. I've also gotten (strong or weak) AI races to attack others in many of my games. I like to play the puppeteer with them and make them whittle each other down while I act benevolent to all and build my strength. I also find it fun to take a poor AI race that is getting destroyed by the same powerhouse AI that's hitting me (usually torian
I didn't think it was possible, but I think Galciv2 is more addictive than Master of Orion ever was. Holy crap I waste a lot of time at this game. What do you think is more addicive GC2 or MOO?
whats the highest? the best I got was 43.
I find they aint much good unless you need to explore. I usually like to play abundant habitable worlds, so exploration isn't so pressing as colonization at the start of the game. It really makes a difference on big, sparse maps though. Load up cargo hulls with engines and sensor kits and you'll have a very good fast exploration fleet. The other good thing is that you get survey modules an can pick up those anomalies with the survey ships early on inst
for the love of god, remove the thing that makes the galactic map auto- jump to idle ships. It irritates the crap out of me
Launch all button to get ships out of orbit quicker Have a separate tab on the planet labeld "old techs" so that you can buld basic factories and get newly acquired planets up and running more quickly Remove the thing that strips functional components during upgrades. Its useless
Hi. How the crap do you keep the view from jumping to your idle, non-orbiting ships all the time. I don't know if its a glitch with my install or just a setting I need to uncheck, but every time I send a ship someplace that makes it disappear from the galactic map (ie. into orbit, to upgrade a starbase or to build a colony) the view jumps to my non-moving ships, making me lose my place. Its really irritating on large maps. Is there any way to turn thi

Hi. Does it matter if a weapon faces forward or back? I am playing my first game that got to large hulls and I'm wondering if aft-facing torpedo launchers are necessary to improve the attack of the ship. thanks
