Hi everyone. I booted up the game for the first time, updated to 1.07 and I have been playing the campaign just to get familiar with the game. I haven't had one issue until just now. I'm on turn 260 and all of a sudden, the game went from silky smooth to extreme choppiness, even in the option screen and main menu (the background scrolling was even choppy). I didn't realise how long ago the thread was started (but it matched my issue). Either way, by disabling the auto save, the game now doesn't lock up.
I'm getting the exact same issue. Of note, I have the same sound card and same video card, 6600GT. I tend to get a random lock up early in the game...actually, I just realised it perhaps happens around turn 10 which is when the autosave kicks in. I'm going to try and disable the autosave and see if that works.
