the other points are true, however point 3 didn't happen to me. my 3-advanced module transports usually are auto filled with 3000 troops, although sometimes they are filled with less, but i think that's because the colony didn't have enough people.
because transports disappear when they've been used in a ground invasion... kinda dumb to build plasma cannons that vanish into thin air moo2 had a good system. let me explain a little bit for those who are unfamiliar. light weapons like laser and mass driver do very little damage when bombarding. there are "bomb" type weapons that do good bombardme
make possible planetary bombardment and blockade by ships currently the only way AIs can hurt my planets is by invading with transports, which are easily destroyed. in fact one only needed enough fast ships to intercept transports, and his planets are safe from any damage. 1 reason the MOO series AI seemed much more menacing was because they could declare war early, and hurt you badly without invasions. they could attack you befor
automove also wastes extra movements left after reaching the target. say the target is 2 tiles away, and your automove ship has 5 movements left. after you click end turn, it moves to the target, and you can't use the 3 leftover movements, because you've already ended the turn i hope 1.1 is gonna solve these two problems, extremely annoying
I can understand the demand for this option however I would ask that the words "surrender" and "random" (or any derivatives thereof) please not be used in the same sentence. I sincerely doubt that anyone posting in this forum (myself most certainly included) really understands the AI with the exception of the programmers. I can h
i agree with nullspace. i'd also like to add that in galciv2 being big has a snowball effect. the biggest civ gets the most tourism money, can dictate united planets voting and get the money and production bonuses. and getting big in galciv2 is almost entirely dependent on where you start, because the only game opening is to pump out as many colony ships as you can. whereas in civ4 getting too big early on without adequate infrastructure will spell you
haven't found any difference with creative, but luck always gives me free ranger ships. when i was fighting the terran i was given a ranger almost every few turns. they really saved my butt. those rangers can take a beating and could destroy most contemorary ships with one shot
looks like selecting a planet or sun is the best solution at the moment. it is very annoying to have to do that after moving each fleet. what i've found is that there doesn't have to be multiple fleets in the same square for this to happen. sometimes this happens with one single ship and one fleet messing each other up. i have 1.0x, sure hope the devs know about it and fix it in 1.1...
Maybe they surrender to them to screw one of the other AIs over. It's not all about you yeah but why surrender to a weakling, instead of somebody strong who can protect you? they weren't at war with everyone, there were still 10 races in the galaxy and the game was still very early </
this is beginning to drive me nuts and i don't know if this is a common problem. here is an example of the problem. i move a fleet onto my starbase to protect it from an enemy fleet that's about to attack in the next turn. i either press tab to move other ships, or press g to make them guard (it doesn't make a difference). i move the next ship, somewhere else in the galaxy. when i come back to check on the guarding fleet, and they have decided to move
i tried to fight it out before i posted here. i was holding my own and countering enemy ships, until the newly added territory of the drath kicked in and they started to flood me. they took 2 planets from me, i retook one then lost it again. i was left with only my home system and was rapidly getting left behind in tech. it was only a matter of time so i gave up.
the saving own kind logic doesn't quite hold in the situation. the drath had only 2 planets (home and secondary), and at the time they had maybe 2 warships, so there was no way they could protect the torians. the torians were in fact bigger than the drath and i combined. like river rat said, deciding who to surrender to might be a random seed thing, really sad if that's the case. it ruined a perfectly good game and now i have to start over
i don't think they were at war with everyone else. there were 10 races on the map and it was still early in the game (lasers and mass drivers). don't the AIs always surrender to the strongest race they are not at war with?
this is a tough difficulty game on huge galaxy. i'm stuck in a corner with the drath, and we end up as the two smallest factions. they start popping up influence bases and after a while they declare war on me. this is fine and i begin building warships then suddenly, the torians pop up, and say they have surrendered to the drath ! now i was not at war with the torians, relationship bet
