Guys, This happened to me, too: Three times during my first sandbox game with Dark Avatar. I don't remember if it was the Altarians each time, but I'm surprised more people heven't heard about this. So far the wars I have been forced into have dominated my time and effort in the game.

Hey, Both the game manual and any strategy guide I've read are a little confusing when describing ship combat. What I can't find out is: My question can best be asked by an example. If an attacking ship has 6 beam, 6 missile, and 6 mass driver, his attack rating will be 18. If the defending ship has 3 shield, 6 point defense, and 9 armor, will his defense rating be a straight 18, or will the game be able to apply the shield to the beam, and so on? The way the manual makes it sound, if beam
I noticed that when I reload a game, the zones of influence have shrunk from their previous size, when I saved the game. After a few turns, the zones of influence grow back, but they never seem to be the same as before. I notice a similar thing with my production. Right after reloading, production is very small, as if the bonuses have not been applied yet. This seems to mean that every time I reload, I lose most of a turn worth of production. What's the deal with this? How do you minimize these
Hey, I've been playing a peaceful game, focusing on tech. Now I decide to go to war. I attack an enemy fleet with my fleet, which is logistics 28, and full of my top of the line ships. I didn't look at the enemy ship stats because I was sure that I would beat them, but they beat me pretty handily. after they beat me I looked at their stats. While my maximum logistics is 28, theirs is 40. I'm at the end of the logistics tech tree. Also, their ships have superior attack ratings to mine, but I
(sigh) Okay, I guess I'll design my own. Just kidding. I don't mind designing my own, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something about the core ships. Thanks for the quick responses.
Hey, I've been playing for a little while, and through several scenarios the most powerful warship that I've been able to build has been the Defender. I know we can design our own, but I was under the impression that we could play the whole game using core ships (That is what they call premade ship classes, isn't it?) What's the deal. Do I have to design a new set of ships for each new technology I research, or am I missing something? What do
