Trade Routes in Trade GalCiv2 Forums

At the moment my empire can support only one trade route in total. I have researched upto "Master Trade" which at least let me have +3 and the previous reserach allows + to trade routes. I can see all other Empires have more than one route. Am I bugged or is there other technology I need to research
