The only thing that bugs me is: if I launch a ship from the orbit screen that ship is not automatically selected. I often peek at the orbit screen to decide if to change from my usual constructor rush, decide what I want to build, launch the constructor then expecting it to be auto selected I direct one of my scouts or miners to go to the destination.
Great feedback guys. We're looking through the reports. Some people are reporting running into bugs. The thing is, as you all know, this wasn't rushed. We were playing it tons and tons before release and haven't run into the kinds of problems some of you have run into. I think the main thing is that people are playing it differently than we are I think. Also, we did release one update that took care of the various string issues that some of you ran into. That said, as ot

I've emailed a save and debug file. If I play several sessions of ToA and don't restart my computer I eventually get a video memory warning from ToA. The debug shows quite a few lines of unallocated memory at the end of the debug. Version 0.98c[b].001 I did not have this problem in earlier builds.
UPDATE April 11 2008: This bug is fixed! Yay! It was an insidious bug involving the minor races, which I usually don't play with which is probably why I could never reproduce it before. Heh.
This is now the coolest bug ever. I may have actually helped get rid of a bug in a beta. :)

Yes I do too, This is from the same game I sent to GC2bugs about the invisible ships (B6A). Maybe they're related.
The espionage is fun, but it doesn't seem possible to devote enough of my resources to it to get enough spies working. My agents last at most two or three turns and are then nullified, no matter what. This makes it impossible to get the increased level research, but those reports are so confusing they are not that much use to me anyways.
Just as a strategy tip: I too was having your problem, and tried some things that seem to work. 1) Start building spys from tur

When I open my Stardock Central to "My Games" with the "Show Pre-release versions" box checked, I am only offered 0.98a[b].003 as the latest beta; yet I see people talking about betas 5 & 6. While not able to beta test alot, I'd love to help where I can. It always seems my little beta bug reports are obsolete. Where can I download Beta 6?

Plus it's always cool to report a bug no one else has found yet because of something unique to your computer or play style. The programmers can't possibly have every combination of hardware -- have fun helping out and you'll still get the Finished when it's ready.

I have emailed you mine. Terran constructors and miners.Version 0.98a[b].003. I see people talking about .005 But StardockCentral isn't offering it for me. Let me know if (and how) I can help.

ToA version 0.97[b].001 still has invisible constructors, freighters and colony ships yet this is listed as a fixed bug. Is this still an active bug.

I've copied my user created ships from the "Ships" folder of GalCivII to the one for ToA; alas I don't seem to have them. What else do I need to do?

Without a doubt the economy is much more difficult. So far I've adjusted my play by building many more economy buildings and starbases, trading techs for as much cash and just plain suffering through the initial tough times. I've only played 3 at challenging so far (one as each alignment) but I won all 3. Give it time and remember this is still just a beta.

The find button worked some of the time but when it didn't the only way for me to stop the hang was to save(I could still do that) and reload. Not sure if it would hae generated an exception -- the hard disk light was not on, so there was no real cpu thinking. Have had the problem w/ .95B

Towards the end of this game the AI turn would stop and the only solution was to save anf reload. The "end turn" tab would then reappear and the turn would end. It is also believed that Mars originally had a thicker atmosphere (from its vulcanism) that it lost due to its insufficient gravity. It is therefore theoretically feasible to terraform the planet for short term (geologically speaking)use. It also is a much more habitable planet for the use of domes than say our moon as its atmosphere provides a layer of protection from cosmic rays.

I can't believe I wasted the 90 seconds to scan this thread from people I don't know when I could be expanding the Terran Empire. Now to ignore the incredulous looks from my wife and kids as I play Avatar and laugh like a Snathi in an oak grove.

Actually IMHO gaming is evolving the same way the old war gaming industry did -- with the twist of hardware advances. First simple little games, then a plethora of cheap but more varied games, then an expolsion of games moderately priced in categories. Then (the present stage), with a sniff of money, really advanced and complicated games but very expensive to make -- thus a grand contraction of vareity with the simple business need to recoup the expense by appealing to a larger market.

It's my easiest form of victory but I wouldn't call it easy. What I dislike is being unable to use my "uber" ships for long enough. I will often turn off tech victory just to play a long conquest game. Truth be told I get a little disappointed with any other victory than conquest.

I've used both ad-aware and spybot (spybot isn't spyware but ad-aware thinks so). Ad-Aware is updated more often. My V-Com System Suite (a retail multi-tool) does catch some that even ad-aware misses. So if your still having trouble it'd be a good idea to pay a little to get a little.
