We've identified this as a GPU overheating issue. For now (until we find some better solution) either adjust your GPU to have the fans be more aggressive at cooling it down or decrease the shadow and/or graphics setting. I've done the opt in. I seem to be OK on the majority of planets. I seem to be only getting the freeze on planets with a lot of terrain, animals, or mineral spawns. From best I can tell, it happens to me on planets with a lot going on. If the animals are few I can make it thru, but when it looks like a zoo, I freeze, even with the opt in.
One of the challenges I face in my role as the CEO of a company is that I always live in the future. My job is to project things that will happen 1 year, 3 years, 5 years from now. As a result, I tend to worry about things all the time. Andy Grove, the former CEO of Intel, wrote a book I highly recommend called Only the Paranoid Survive . It's been a boon and a curse to me because I have learned a lot from it b
More Animals. I would like there to be more biodiversity in the galaxy than the same 5 animals. More enemies than robots and angry rhino things; tanks, planes, armies, Godzilla, giant robots Planets with civilizations on them that you can land on. City planets are missing. I saw a few with a building or a mushroom shaped outpost, but I want cities. Even planets with Post Apocalypse landscape, so we can pick thru the bones of all the shiny new ali
Hey, maybe Stardock can help them out.
Funny you say that. When we are able to create our own multiverses, I get the feeling that re-making the original Starflight on Star Control: Origins would be very do-able and would be awesome.
I am having the same issue. I was fine until about 5 hours into the game when suddenly after landing on a plant the game freezes, I can still hear the audio, then the game just shuts down back to desktop. I have uninstalled the game twice with no luck. Does anyone know a work around?
I've been playing with an corded Xbox controller with no problems. I actually prefer it to the board and mouse.
You guys deserve it. I'm sure it's been a very long road, and you folks delivered in spades. Thanks!
I'm digging SC:O! My main problem is my aging PC is having a hard time keeping up. I've been using an X-box controller to play. Is SC:O coming to consoles? That would be the bee's knees! If so do you have a rough ballpark ETA?
I know Frogboy, thanks for making our Star Control dreams come true too :)
Here is a video explain their campaign for funding : https://youtu.be/hJy-fZ-BJvY
It looks like the original developers of Starflight are trying to get some backing to make a 3rd installment. With Star Control: Origins and Starflight 3 it is starting to look like the late 80's, early 90's for sci fi games. I'm stoked! I hope they get backed and this isn't vaporware.
