Here's another idea I had that is simple and will solve everything. Everyone may only trade technology they researched. Doesn't really work. Example: If eight AIs each research a separate tech, then all eight can trade amongst each other and end up with all 8 of those techs. Tthe minors would stop being a conduit of te

The "only trading techs researched by the race that discovered it" is interesting, but, assuming the AIs continue to spam trade, it will still be the case that many of the races will end up with most of the techs. For example, if 6 races each researched a different tech line, then they could trade amongst each other, and each of the 6 would end up with every tech from the other 5. So, I'd have to vote against this idea. The idea where a race only received 50% of t
Well, I claim this might be simple. There are a lot of complaints about the amount of tech trading between AI's in the game. Quite simply, tech is traded so often as to make the whole research part of the game almost meaningless. Here is an idea to fix it: Put in a slider with which the player can specify what percentage of total research points may<br/
I'll throw in my suggestion on how to fix this. I really hope Stardock does something about this because IMO its a game breaker. Here's an idea on a simple fix: Put in a slider with which the player can specify what percentage of total research points may be acquired by trade. For example, assume that the total research points of all the techs an AI has is 10,000 points. If the player selected 50%, then at most 5000 of those points could hav
There are a bunch of complaints about the number of tech trades between the AI's. Here is an algorithm that might 1) be easy to implement, and 2) address the problem. Suggestion: Put in a slider with which the player can specify what percentage of total research points may be acquired by trade. For example, assume that the total research points of all the techs an AI has is 10,000 points. If the player selected 50%, then at most 5000 of those points could<br
Flat out - the AI's are trading too often, and they are making trades that they would flat out reject if the human player made the offer. It also dilutes the diversity in weapon/defense types that having different tech lines should create. Bottom line, its not fun. There are two easy fixes that I hope get implemented. First, an option to turn off all tech trade. This is not ideal (since all it does is mask the poor trading AI), but its better then nothing.<
First time post. This topic prompted me to post to the forum since I'm also of the belief that something *needs* to be done about the tech trading algorithms. I have only played on "intelligent", but at this level, the AI's simple trade way too often. Basically, every race, including the minor races have everything. It really detracts from the game. I don't think races should stop trading, because that is realistic and does add to the game. Here is a
