Going without armor is, imo, a waste of an excellent line of tech. Even the tiniest bit of armor, I've found, can go a looooong way. There's no need to get 100 armor or whatever on a ship- just 2 or 3 grants you a huge advantage without much cost in space.

I use a logitech as well, and had a lot of trouble along the same lines. Go to your mouse control menu (from the system tray) and select your roller press-button. Set its status to 'general' key ( I think that's it, not at home atm). That will release the button from the mouse's default use of it and enable other programs to define it differently.

GalCiv2 needs a boss button like the old Doom had.. hear your boss coming? tap a key, and you're suddenly working hard on the gutterman file. ^_^

Brad- As far as the free-form part rotation is concerned- will we be able to do this with the outside parts only, or will we be able to rotate parts that have had other parts grafted on already? It'd be really nice to be able to rotate whole sections of the ship.

I play on huge or gigantic maps and rarely use military starbases. There just aren't enough choke points to make them effective, especially once I've gotten to mid game and 1 or 2 other races have been eliminated. I usually engage in a series of short wars designed to gain planets, usually leaving existing military starbases far

Speaking of smart things... In a recent game the torians declared war on me (the Iconians). The first I saw of their warships was a fleet trashing a rather expensively upgraded but undefended economy starbase- didn't even see them til they were right next to it. They almost pulled it off again with a single fighter.. fortunately I had a constructor nearby so that didn't come off. They also darn near got transports to several of my undefe

He does bring up a valid point. What happens to the freighter on a trade route if/when that trade route is discontinued (i.e., when you go to war with a civ you were formerly trading with)? Seems a waste if the transport simply disappeared.

Not sure if this really qualifies as bug or not, but here goes regardless. I have my television hooked up to my computer and set up as a second monitor. This doesn't normally cause any problems, but then GalCiv2 randomly started detecting it and decided to complain. Now every time I start up, I get a pair of error messages informing me that my monitor resolution is too low at 640x480 and a similar color error. The game then proceeds to load complet

I'd like to see the ablity to maximize the tech tree window. As it is, it only fills about a third of the research screen, and it's very difficult to get an idea of the larger view. I've also had trouble click dragging- sometimes the mouse 'sticks' to a spot, and the mouse will continue to move the screen despite my having to release the button. Rarely, clicking will somehow deselect GalCiv2 and a click near the edge of the screen with randomly minimize the game. In the

I have noticed that techs will often name Vessels that become available with researching a tech- but then, in parentheses, (3 other techs required). However, it fails to mention what these techs are. Any ideas on how to find out, besides scouring the tech tree in search of the same text?
