I also experienced what gregbert described. It is definitely a bug/exploit. I attacked the husband corpse for a while and leveled my group about 8 times. I had 5 moves per turn and was able to attack the body using auto resolve and rake in the xp.
I use them both to expand my influence border and to subvert the planets of other races. I have noticed that if you put them on your borders and build them up you will see your influence bulge. As far as getting planets to defect. the AI will try and counter you with planetary improvemtns and its own influnence starbases. It is a nice alternative to traditional warfare.
I am playing a long game right now and am fighting an influence war with two of my allies. Though I do not have alliances with the races, I have excellent standing and trade. At first I was pissed that the AI would be so aggressive with the Influence starbases but now it has become an interesting kind of fencing where we are constanly checking each others influence. I am glad I did not go to war over it because it has really been fun trying to out

Wow Doronron! That is how I envisioned a battleship. I really like the small details. Especially using the lights at the ends of the antenna. I have yet to use the lights...do they blink by chance? It would be nice if there were some components that animated some action. What context are you captureing the screen shots...is it in combat viewer or the shipyard? I would like to post some and like the full screen format you are using.
Wow. I really like how the "Worker" came out. Making those rings lay horizontally was very creative!!! Good Show!
I am having an intermitant crash to desktop when I click to advance a turn and I am sure it is video driver based but that is not why I am posting. I am also experienceing something strange with my influence and fog of war when I restart the game. I save every turn now and I when I have a crash I will restaret the game. Once I get back in I noticed my influence borders are greatly changed or reduced and fog of war has been re-applied to already explored areas. Anyone see anything like this b
I finally had a chance to play this game last night and after going through the tutorials I started a game and found the shipyard and started customizing my ships...for like 5 hours. Still haven't even really played...just made some pretty killer looking Colony Ships...lol I am very impressed with what I have seen and this game has re-vitalized turn based strategy for me in a HUGE way...or at least I think it will when my new ships actually get built and put to use <img src="smiles/La
