I've tried playing a couple of games and it seems like once I research too many techs (tech lvl of like 6,000) I get CTDs every couple of turns. Always happens as soon as the game starts getting fun too. Here's my latest log. I agree that the fleet manager is useless. I rarely have ships in orbit anyway. I just make defense fleets and station them close enough to planets to intercept attackers before they get to my planets.
Not sure if someone has already said this, but the thing that really draws me to console gaming over PC is the fact that when I put the game in the system, it's going to work. I'm not going to run in to some compatibility issues or get some crazy error message. Even with galciv2, it took me a day and a half to get my computer to run it (outdated driver that isn't supported by the manufacturer anymore). I used to have a great, top of the line system,
In the words of Lil Jon, YEEEEAAHHH!!!!!! omegadrivers fixed my problem. Thanks Eric and everyone else. I'll be in my own little universe now!
Eric What file did you download from omega drivers that worked? I'm so amped!
There IS no new driver. I've scoured that website and they have nothing for it since 2003.
Well, I am having a blast changing the name of my leader and the color of my ships, but that's as far as I have ever been able to get. As soon as I start a new game it crashes at the load screen. I tried using Smart Exception, but trying to email the log from that just gives me missing SCDzip error. I unistalled and reinstalled galciv2, made sure I had the most updated driver for my computer, even put more RAM in. This is the only game I've ever bought that my system met the requirements but
Sean London Try setting you display to 32-bit on the desktop. That should help.
Ah, found the debug report. I'm getting to start a game, but it crashes while loading. Avatar Nakor I have the most updated driver, which was from may 2003. ATI has nothing new, but it's never had a problem with DirectX or any other games. I'm trying to use SmartException, but it won't generate a log of the crash.
I am running a Compaq laptop Athlon 1500 1.33 GHz, 340 MB RAM, ATI Mobility w/64 MB video RAM. I have directx 9.0c and the latest driver for my video card (May 2003). I had downloaded just the main part of the game, I could get to the start of a new game but it would crash to the desktop while loading. I downloaded the movies, tutorial, and multimedia folders and NOW the game won't even start. I am getting super frustrated with this and I have NO idea what to do now. Please help!
Ok, nm on the sound issue, figured that out.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
