Hey guys! Wow, first visit in over 18 months! I still have my old Gal Civ 2 papers where I was optimizing my population when I thought that population was the primary factor in score (I was wrong)... but, anyway, the highest population I have written down here is .024488302, which is 24.48 trillion. It also has a note saying "plus 60B on last planet" so I had 60B in troop transports around the last planet. Incidentally enough, I was earning over 300K per turn after year 8 (I dunno ab

So does anyone have a list of all these super valued techs? Would seem I should beeline for those and just take what I want from the AI. You can get a feel for it after playing with diplomacy a bit. Medium Scale Building is a big one that comes early, same with Enhanced (or is it Advanced?) Logistic
I don't know how you guys do it, but for me, trading for the AI's ships and starbases is a super inneficient strategy. They place way too high a value on it, even when I have Jedi level diplomacy. But I'm not complaining, just curous exactly how you guys are getting these supposed 'deals' for their starbases. AI super values some techs, like M
Yeah, you shouldnt continue to rack up points by just being stagnant. I'm pretty surprised someone hasnt taken a gigantic game out to 30+ years just to get the highest score on the metaverse. I'd probably do it myself just to highlight the problems with the scoring, get some 3 mil score or something on a 40 yr game... but I've got Oblivion to win so no time for Galciv 2 lately. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.g
It depends how you want to play... if you're going for that easy influence win, then you want the +inf and +dip w/ Pacifists as your party. For best economy +morale (15%), +econ, + 10% PQ & Federalists. I guess overall I think the best choices are +dip, +inf, +econ, +morale , +PQ (10%)... for my play style anyway. I basically quick rush buy all my ships and never have military slider above 0%.
yeah, exactly, it's a trade good that you don't want anyone else to have. re: mind control center, does it really give you a 100% econ boost? wow, my scores could have been a lot higher.
1) diplomatic translators 2) galactic bazaar 3) restaurant of eternity you want all 3 of those, the rest dont matter as much
Influence starbases are overpowered, you don't even need to take Pacifists or +influence abilities. In gigantic universe if you control all the influence starbases then the game is already over..... and AIs will trade all their starbases to you for a few techs or cash, I usually have them all by end of year 1. Well really the mining starbases in general are just insanely overpowered in large, huge, and gigantic universes. AI's should value
yes, on gigantic and huge it's pretty insane micromanagement. large or less it's not so much. but right now, it's the way to get the best score on the metaverse.
I always build my trade goods/galactic achievements on class 5 or under planets, except for the Diplomatic Translators. You can insta-complete them for way too cheap - replacing a factory or research academy/invention sphere... buy them on class 5 or under planets for least economic loss.
So fast tech would probably make games even easier for high scores... could start developing quicker. Anyway, I ran that game out to 21 years, in honor of my competition Magnumaniac's 21 yr victory. Year 16 - 1233927 score, ??? econ Year 17 - 1295682 score, ??? econ Year 18 - 1355750 score, 309153/turn econ Year 19 - 1414242 score, 309266/turn econ Year 20 - 1471302 score, 309242/turn econ (inexplicably my popu
Just finished another game. I wish I had started saving around year 4 or 5 but didn't think of it 'til later. Anyhoo, after completing the game and submitting to the metaverse at end of year 15 I checked the scores if I had won it earlier, all games were won on Dec 29th of their respective years. I also looked at my economy at the time. Population never got above .012500000 (this opposed to near .025000000 in my earlier games when I thought population was key). Year 10 - 802837 s
well, regardless of how the score system is designed there will always be a best method of "milking" the best score. right now, the best way just seems to be to continue your game forever. i would love to see someone beat my 12 year gigantic score though (in 12 years or less). unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a penalty for choosing abundant planets either so anyone not selecting that is at a disadvantage as well. i suspect that ha
well, i guess when comparing scores right now you want to compare them vs games of similar length. incidentally i reloaded that 1.07m game, played out another 5 months (went into the 15th year) and ended with a little over 1.1 mil, so looks like it was still going up around 75k a year or at least an additional 75k for year 15. I think metaverse needs to display exact end date too instead of just year.. then we could get some of
Build farms everywhere. It's best way to generate cash. One farm on class 6 & 7 planets, two farms on class 8 & 9, three farms on class ten, four on class 11, five on class 12, seven on 13, eight on 14, ten on 15, and 12 on class 16+. Of course the best way would be to add these each time pop hits cap but on gigantic universe you probably don't want to micromanage that much. You can make so much taxes from your population that trade is irrelevant... like a few
I don't know if there's a difficulty modifier or not. At first I thought score was mostly based on population so in my 12 year game I finished with .02444xxxx population, taking the +20% planet quality trait to make sure I could get the highest pop - finished game w/ 800K score. After winning that I reloaded the game and played out another two or three months (finishing same year) and got an 820K score even though population was going up very slowly at that point. Tried building
Gives a bonus to all your ships, not just the ones created on that planet. It's a "trade good" so if an AI finishes it first you can also trade them for it.
I just trade techs for ships and then around habitat improvement on tech tree I start trading techs for all their starbases. After that you can just let culture flip everything else.
obviously because the game lasts longer, and also because it is a lot harder to play on a gigantic map against high AI levels. At small levels you can just as micromanage as the AI can, but on the larger maps you won't, making it all the more difficult Obviously! Actually, I've found "Gigantic" to be just as easy against higher level AIs. I
I think length of time only matters because the longer it goes, the more farms and population you can grow. As far as I can determine, population is the main factor in yer metaverse score atm.... which is too bad, difficulty should play a much bigger part, and winning faster is actually more "skillful" then the 20 yr Gigantic wins.. BTW, Gigantic, wow, what a headache... why would anyone play on that map? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Gasp.gif" border=0 AL
Yeah, right now it seems like there's no difficulty modifier whatsoever, so the best way to rack up high score is to just play on Gigantic on easiest difficulty level. I finished two games on Large map and milked them both the exact same way, one was like +2 difficulty levels but score was actually a bit lower. I suspect that abundant, common, occasional, rare, etc on the options doesnt matter either. So it's better to have a lot more habitable planets. Population seems to be one o
Sounds good.. unfortunately, don't have any save games of the ones that were already flagged... but next time I get one flagged I'll exit the game and send up the last autosave.
Yes, I just got the "detected cheat codes" thing too, and didn't use any cheats of course. ed: for a second time actually. both going for cultural conquests.
Yah, I just got that "detected cheat codes" in a game I finished too. Didn't cheat anyway.
yah, i was about to post the same thing. crashes when pressing backspace after going to "metaverse".
