Very excited but I do have a concern. I want to manage a Galactic Civilization... not a bunch of Galactic civilians. Is it going to feel like I am managing 18 people, or 18 planets? I think my concern is based on "feeling" and not execution though. It may still feel like you are managing a civilization, just not sure based on how I am interpreting the dev journals. Thoughts?

[quote who="Alstein" reply="25" id="3806425"] Just to clarify: 1) There will be some sort of option for a Founder's edition similar to GalCiv 3 at some point? That was a really good deal and glad I did it. 2) Alpha is going to be invitation or is it going to be open to pre-orderers? If the latter, will folks who pre-order have the option to upgrade to a Founder's Edition if the option isn't there immediately at equal c

How many cores will the game effectively use? How 'smart' will the AI be (compared to previous entries) given that you are adding so many more elements to the game? Can you refine your statement behind no shipbuilding in Multiplayer? Does this mean no custom hulls or no shipbuilding at all ? My assumption is that Founder's Editions probably end up being a losing money affair. After all, I would think a large part of the core audience who ends up

[quote who="Ascaloth" reply="13" id="3806176"] Quoting Frogboy, reply 12 This will mean some things won't be available in multiplayer -- custom ship designs. Might as well get that out in front. But ship designs and mods and whatnot in multiplayer were a constant support pain. That is not to say we won't

These Dev Journals are one of the reasons I fell in love with Stardock to begin with. It is so interesting seeing the thoughts and path of development instead of just blended up marketing material. Thank you for continuing to spend the time on the journals. I fall in the bucket of folks who spent a ton of time in GalCiv 2 but couldn't get hooked on GalCiv 3. I never really knew why, until I read this journal. Makes more sense now. Thank y

I was telling a friend about the series when he randomly saw an article about the GalCiv4 announcement. One of the first things I said, is that it is a labor of love and you can tell from the dev team. The communication with the community has always been incredible. Good luck to all on the project.

I was wondering if there was a way to keep track of all your stats? IE. After 20 metorite finds my soldiering has gone up by probably 10, plus other reasearch gains... whats my total? (I know soldiering you can see in the battle screen, but I am talking about one concise screen where you can reference all stats... economy, soldiering, etc..) Mostly needed because after finding so many things with my survey ships it would be nice to see all the advancements it has bro

Recently in a Large - Normal game a precursor event happened about year 9 or 10. The event made every planet within two sectors 13 rating. Every planet. Even ones that before were not inhabitable. By pushing out colony ships I quickly colonized almost 30 planets increasing my population for about 50b to about 220b (something like that). It also took the computer till the next year to realize there were new planets to colonize which by then I had s

In a bit, you will be able to dump png files in your my documents/my games/galciv2/ logos and portraits folder. There will be an update soon where they add that functionality. Till then you can go to the games directory and find the folder with all the race photos. Drop png files for your logo and race in there and name it the same way they did, using a different number (I used 99). Remember that the png files need to be 256x256 pixels for race and
