For those who don’t already know, my family and I recently moved to Ohio. We bought a house and are starting to settle in well. As the days go by we are becoming acquainted with our neighbors. One such neighbor is a single man named Phil. Phil is a good guy. He is nice and has lots of yard tools and machines he encourages all the other neighbors t

Years ago, before Anne Rice was really famous, I read one of her novels. I am a person who can not stop reading a book or watching a movie once I've started no matter how BAD it is. This has always plagued me try as I might to change it. See, I can't stand not knowing the end and all the events in between. If I see a bad movie or read a bad book then I can put it out of my mind. BUT if I don't finish it, I find myself thinking about it off

The New York Times just wrote a scathing article about Geraldo not helping a hurricane victim, actually nudging the AF people aside. Their very own public editor reviewed the video footage and said it wasn't true, that Geraldo actually helped carry this person in a wheelchair down flights of stairs. But the New York Times still reported it knowing it to be false. What's up with that? You may have seen journalists allowing people to

I guess I am not clear on what you are saying about people died and the media watched? What are you talking about specifically? I can't answer for all journalists. I can only speak from my own experience. I would no more stand by and watch Americans walk into a trap or someone drown right before me than anyone else. There really IS a diff between broadcast journalism and photo journalism. Broadcasters can help out and STILL get th

Most of the time they don't do anything becuase they are trained that to help out would hurt their "objectivity." As a journalist you are supposed to be an unbiased viewer, a historian. You are supposed to be there and then be gone without disturbing anything significantly. But it IS STUPID. And a lot of journalists do things you just don't know about. He may have called that guy a ride or something, you don't know. But a journali

I agree they have the right as well....I guess we "see" the coverage of the story different. I see two women who lied on an application to get their child into a school they knew they had to lie to get into. If they were heterosexual and lied about their income or any other aspect of their contract, it would become null and void. Now those parents are blaming the school when they should be talking to their kid about why you s

Israel was "created" the moment Jacob finished wrestling with God on the river embankment when his hip was dislocated. But I refer to the Jewish people (as a whole) as the Jewish Nation because even without land to call their own they maintained their culture. England and most of Europe have forsaken the Jews again and again going all the way back to before the Holy Wars. I believe a more chronological time chart can be found in an earlier t

I've looked in to private Christian schools for my kids. All the ones I received literature on had very strict guidelines about what was expected of the student AND the parents. The parents aren't just to dump the kids at school and go on their merry way. They are to participate in the school functions AND lead a life that honors Christ. (And each school details those characteristics.) You also usually sign a statement of faith. I

So six million of them died. And? And are you obtuse? They didn't just die, like an oops sorry. They were rounded up, stolen from, TORTURED, starved, raped, beaten, on and on. So dying isn't quite the right word. I think England needs to keep the memorial to remind themselves how man

I don't think God is taking out His wrath on New Orleans for being well, NEW ORLEANS. I think HE is however allowing this to happen and wants us to ask ourselves why? What is it in the National Arena lately that could (possibly) make God need to bring our attention back into focus? Tragedy happens whether you believe in God or not. But I wouldn't be moving back to New Orleans if I were a prior citizen! No time no how sister! <B

Just a side note. In college it was always someone's "birthday" when a group of us went out. That way we got one free dessert for the table and about 15 spoons. Maybe that is some of what you are experiencing?

I don't know if the word BULLY garners the almost fanatical attention there as it does here, but if it does, I'd be talking to the super about this teacher BULLYING the kids. That is exactly what she was doing by her comments after the phone call. She was REALLY saying..."Don't cry to mom and dad about me because I AM IN CHARGE here." The same thing the fat bully says on the playground before he snatches your lunch money! (Which you

can't find anywhere that actually states when and why BAH and BHA was created now called BSA I think, but I could have sworn that Housing Allowance was created for the purpose of providing monetary assistance to members for whom on-post housing was unavailable. Whether it be BAH or on-post housing, it's a benefit that most peopl

Did you know when Housing Allowance was introduced for the military it was because military base pay was so low and congress wouldn't allow a raise of any decent amount? So they came up with this catchy phrase "Housing Allowance" which was and is part of the member's pay, not something extra. But they made it seperate so they could keep it from being taxed. It always cracks me up how service members are seen as "getting" things, while a CEO

Evil is waiting in line at the grocery store for 45 minutes with a screaming two year old who wants a damn candy bar (they keep right there), only to have the cashier say, "Sorry hon, this is my last customer (meaning the person in front of me). Now why couldn't she tell me that 40 minutes ago? EVIL!!
