A great write up. Can't wait to see 1.6b2 (and final of course). I'll check SDC after I finish this post. One of the absolute best features of GalCiv2 imo is the fact that success ISN'T guaranteed. The AI civs combined with the changes over the course of a game force the player to adapt and change, or become marginalized. Glad to see you're still enjoying the game yourself, as well. Hadn't seen you post in a while, so I assumed other work projects / new baby / etc had perhaps eclipsed a

I enjoyed the update, and I *do* find it insightful to hear your perspective about the graphics tools available, which you've tried, and which ones worked. I appreciate the work that you and the everyone at Stardock continue to do on GC2DL/DA.

The new Beta is running smoothly, no end of turn crashes anymore. I have played 2 games on a large map, 8 opponents, full AI. The AI performed well, even adjusting weapon strategy midstream to counter my defenses. The new single ship graphic display has some kinks to be worked out still. It does speed up the game, noticeably. However, in zoomed out "icon mode" any space with more than a single ship displays nothing, i.e. no icon. The Chicago Stardock Central server listed the Beta as available (over the Easter weekend) but caused an invalid serial number error when trying to download. The California (dont ask me why one is a city and the other a state name) Stardock Central server did not list the Beta update but functioned normally to reinstall while I was troubleshooting the serial number errors. At any rate, the entire issue should resolve itself in a few hours once the SDC servers have the update they think they

OK. So I don't post alot. However, I read these forums religiously. I guess I am a bit stunned at the incredible over reaction a few folks are having to ongoing game modifications, which are optional to download, easily editable, no longer limiting to a mystic metaverse score that confirms your worthiness to humanity, and were a clearly stated objective of the developer from the beginning. Stardock has done nothing but work to improve the game and continue to keep the games element

Galciv2 seems to have it's own gravity well on my computer... I am drawn back to it again and again. Your continuing improvements to make the game better, in every aspect, have lead me to champion this game among friends and acquaintances. This latest Beta has fixed many long standing issues with the various tech tree progressions (i.e. miniturizaion (yes, 2a, but published here), weapon branch flaws, progression of building costs and effects, etc) and despite the higher instability of
