Hi JBuck, perhaps you didn't run the three applications that I suggested? I've found on occasion that steam misses the 'first time execution' of these redistributables and the only way to fix this is to run them manually. No amount of uninstall/install seems to fix this. Don't worry about Win7 vs Win10. Just look for those directories/applications under your Star Control - Origins directory. If none of this works, then it's time to send your RunLog and settings.ini files to St

Chances are it's your system set up. You may not have whitelisted your game folder or else the game with your antivirus program and so you've hit permissions issues. Which is probably why you don't have a run log - because it can't be written there. Because of your permissions issues you probably have hit the same thing as JBuck406, meaning that you have an incomplete installation of DXSETUP, NDP471blahblahblah, vc_redist.x64. You don't need to go elsewhere...I'd suggest you use the DirectX, DotNet, and vcredist that come along with the install under the Steamworks Shared subdir in the StarControl Origins directory. Use the DXSETUP, NDP471blahblahblah, vc_redist.x64 applications. I'm guessing that perhaps an antivirus program blocked the installations during the StarControl install - run them by hand. Example image below showing locations, using one of my installed configurations. <img src="https://

If you're running Windows10 and you have an installation of StarControl 'somewhere' on your PC then do a simple Windows search. I happen to have installed my steam games on a secondary SSD due to storage considerations. Open File Explorer, click 'This PC', and do a search for ''StarControl_DX11.exe' on your drive. If the file is found, then right-click on it and choose the option to show file location.

You'll see the settings file there as well.

The season pass is a good idea (much better than DLC droppings [e digicons]:'([/e] ) and set at a good price with the draw of regular fresh content. I don't have an issue with the moniker 'Season Pass' although you could always call it an 'Episodic Arc'. :)

After installing the game, I could not get it to run in 3840x2160 - there was no option presented in the video settings of the game. The best that I could do was to select 1920x1080 and the game then ended up windowed (even with full screen setting), covering only 1/4 of my screen no matter what I tried. This was kinda weird as I had previously had no issues with the Founders' drops. I ended up opening up the settings file and modified gameWindowWidth and gameWindowHeight to 3840, 216

Utopian/Dystopian novels have given some great names: Andymon (1982) Begum's Fortune (1879) Erewhon (1872) New Amazonia (1889) Lost Horizon (yes, that "Lost Horizon") (1933) Sultana's Dream (1905) Faremido (1916) I'd love to see one or more of the above make their way in. :)

Enjoying the first chapter. I hate crashing my lander... On the planets/moons I stayed zoomed out to max to hunt for stuff. Stuff-hunting was a little boring after (successfully landing) a few times. Having to avoid sudden dust-storms on Mars, for example, would have made it a bit more interesting. As others have said, I wish I could zoom out more in the solar system. In addition to some of the graphics issues with overlays already mentioned, I have a line extend

Hi Brad, I signed up for Founder's because I figured if anyone could pull off a reboot, it would be Stardock. This was based on Stardock's gaming legacy and in a trust that Stardock had 'done the right thing' wrt the rights. I haven't seen anything to convince me otherwise. Keep on keeping on.

Thanks for the backgrounder on the game engine and asset streaming. Looking forward to Super-Melee. I really like the scale and look of the planet/moons and ships in the Story Talk section, although the 'StarControl Station' overlay on top of the planet and station looks a little weird and in-the-way. Ship Stuff - I like the pretty image. Perhaps there is a way to compact some of the modules together so that they are still distinct but more integrated?
