SE places a .cra and .dmp in the C: root (or at least does on my system). You can use these files directly without having it try to send the report home. Blif

Couldn't find this anywhere obvious, so here we go... Occassionally when I start up the game I get a black screen. If I let it sit, I'll hear the intro playing. If I skip the intro, I can hear the mouse moving over the buttons, but still all is black. Restart after restart of the game and it's always the same. _My_ resolution is to rename the .ini file in my profile. Once I do this I am able to launch the game with proper display. I can then
I too see this. The ships reappear after they have moved and I'm able to select them while they are sitting there invisible. It's been like this for me since release AFAIK. Nvidia 5950 video card. Search on my other posts for complete specs. Blif
I see white ships from time to time in the editor, but they're fine when I'm playing. *shrugs* Luck with that. GeForce 5950 if it matters to SD. Blif
IIRC, it's not that it needs that specific type of defense....it just needs to have a single piece of defensive equipment on board. So if your starbase adds +3 to beam defense, you can have as little as a +1 missile, mass driver, OR beam defense and you'll get the +3 to beam as well. Blif
I have the mouse issue on a 5950. Didn't happen for the first week with the release download. Happens fairly quickly if I forget to enable the hardware cursor. Let me know if you need more info. This was, from what people were telling me, going to be fixed in this last patch. It is, right now, my biggest gripe with the game. I was told by people in the chat that it could be worked around by swapping out production of the ship you're upgrading so that no starports were building that design, upgrade, and swap back in, but I still got this corruption. Guess it's back to clicking on the "upgrade" button and renaming the vessel. *sigh* <br
I'm running 1.0X and it still occurs for me. (only started 2 days ago) I'm on a 6950 and don't have the theme installed. Also, if you didn't know, switching to the hardware cursor appears to resolve the issue. I just keep wiping my prefs.ini and forgetting to change it back. Blif
Eek! No! As someone who races for the Eyes of the Universe, I'm already screwed by the sensor patch that was put in and am seriously hoping that they fix the original issue and remove the band-aid. If THEY have an issue with sensor barges, then might I suggest limiting the maximum number of sensors that may be used on any one vessel. Otherwise it's just a tool, use it or not. Blif
For what it's worth, I've 2GB of ram and the last time I noticed this issue happen, the game was using just a hair under 800MB; so this may or may not be related to the memory leak that has been mentioned in other threads. Next time I start a new game and have a fresh ship list I'll pay closer attention and let y'all know when I notice it again. Blif
I've been having the following issue since my first game: I design a Constructor and Colony ship on my first turn. As my tech increases I upgrade my designs. I don't always upgrade the ships associated with the designs, but I always upgrade the design. As the turns pass, something gets mucked up. Even though I can goto a planet and in the Build Ship interface show that I am building the sole design I have availabe, the ships that are co
1) Indeed, your only chance of controlling the vote is to have >50% of the influence. And as Huxley Hobbes stated, you can "purchase" influence from your prey. Picking on those weaker than you and then offering Peace can net you alot of influence. Especially the minor races. 2) I don't think I've ever seen Alliance appear before close, but then there is still a threshold to be met. I've often been close and still not been given the optio
Uh, yeah...sorta got mine today. I ordered my copy in March and had quite forgotten that I had requested a box. Needless to say, I was a little surprised to get an e-mail this morning from a former coworker 600 miles away telling me that my pre-ordered copy of Gal Civ 2 had arrived and what the hell should she do with it. Blif
I go Xeno Research first off (start with Cartography and the first three Propulsion techs). After that I poke after a few "quick" researches...usually opening up with the improvement tree that lets you upgrade banks, factories, and the like. Then I'll go long haul and research the entire Sensor tree so that I can build the Eyes of the Universe and then it's to Ethics for me as well. Neutrality for the same reason as above. If I can get there befor
I was in the same boat PsiSoldier...I kept thinking they should be reduced to size zero as well. When that didn't happen, I read the text really carefully and as curttasker points out, it is misleading. "Reduces the cost of the Survey Module to zero, allowing you to equip any ship to explore anomalies." The first half clearly states that it is the cost that goes to zero, however, the second half is then what we've interpreted to
I've assumed this was by design: in upgrading a tile from one building type to another, you get some percentage of the cost applied to the new project. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Blif
As a general rule I've found that you can build your first farm:morale at 1:1....anything after that and you need ~2:3 to maintain a higher than 40-50% morale. Bear in mind tile bonuses and the like. I've gotten relatively far in about 5 games (before starting over or bugging out; default difficulty) and have never been forced to reduce below a 49% tax rate (seems to be about optimal at later stages). YMMV Blifneb
I'll agree with the others here. Certainly looks like a bug to me. Money for free: As my researchers would say, " w00t". I would, as well, prefer one of the following three options: 1) Not allow spending beyond a certain deficit. a) Fixed based on difficulty b) Fixed based on diplomacy, trade, and influence 2) Accurately reflect your deficit Blifneb
This is by design, since the game is moddable. Otherwise, people could make outrageous claims with their scores and just FUBAR the whole Metaverse. By starting the game using the Metaverse it dumps all mods and uses a release version of the game, thus insuring everyone is on the same playing field.
Same issue here. I updated yesterday just fine. But was having some issues so decided to wipe it and install again and now this. Very sad.
