First of all let me state, that yea I have downloaded pirated games in the past, but with StarDock, I buy everything they release simply because they do NOT put in copy protection. Way to go!!! I hope it grows and grows and grows!!! I too feel having a secondary non-stardock mod site is a good idea. In our world of modern legality and copyright laws, Stardock might not be able to host a star trek mod, or star wars mod or what have you. While a fan run site would be more likely to get away with it.
